The newest Tribal Wars Map version, version 3, has finally been completed.
Quote:
New features:
Map dragging: Drag the map to move it.
Zoom system: 6 zoom modes; 3 icon only zooms (10%, 8% and 6%) which are like a full screen minimap and 3 full zooms (100%, 50% and 25%). These replace the icon size option and Minimap map overlay feature.
Full screen: The map automatically fills your entire screen, replacing the map size setting.
Scroll wheel zooming: Use your mouse scroll wheel to zoom in/out.
Travel Times in tooltips: Use "Set start" and the tooltip will display the Travel Times in the tooltip.
Highlights in tooltips: You can now view highlights and highlight groups in the tooltip.
Timers: Set timed events that warn you at set Tribal Wars server times.
Translations: The tool is now fully translatable, use the translation tool to help translate Tribal Wars Map into your native language.
Tribal Wars Map graphs: Graphs provided by Tribal Wars Map.
New Minimap positions: top-right, top-left, bottom-left on top of the existing bottom-right (default), outside bottom-left and outside top-right.
Mass highlighting: Highlight villages, players or tribes from a list.
Highlight all of a player's villages: Accessible from Village list->Highlight list->highlight all.
New colour picker: On top of the existing colour sphere and colour palette, there is now a colour picker available.
Influence (tooltip option): Displays the power of tribes near to a village using a calculation based on distance and points in a 15 village radius.
Historical data: Complete redesign, adding tribe conquer history and tribe member history amongst many other changes and additions, now also available for individual players.
Circle icons on map: Displays a cross on the map where the center of a circle is located.
Markers on minimap: Displays start, destination, main and markers on the minimap as an outline.
New filter options: Maximum number of hours since conquered, maximum and minimum number of hours since last activity and only display highlighted.
Full changelog

Post your comments, bug reports and suggestions for version 3 here. If many people experience tool-breaking problems, it is possible the tool will be reverted back to version 2.2, however lets hope that won't be necessary ^^.

It appears version 3 is more taxing on the server than version 2, contrary to my expectations. Right now the server seems to be able to handle it, at the cost of decreased update frequency (the tool automatically scales down on updates if it is in danger of being overloaded). Right now it appears updates have halved from normal pace, reducing update frequency to once every 2 hours, however in my opinion I think the improvements over version 2 should outweigh the reduction in updates caused by version 3, if you agree or disagree, make sure to make your voice known, it is very easy to revert back to version 2.2 without causing any major problems.

I had my mini map viewed as 200x90 under the main map outside, in which i used it like a continent map. Now I can't see it because there is no scrolling - to allow zoom in/out which could simply be done with the settings big/small/very small - I used small and would like it to stay that way anyway

The cross to represent where the church is located is ok, its makes everything less confusing.

We should be able to turn the dynamics off, its a little laggy on netbook Its wayy too laggy

You can turn off all animations from the settings, turn off "Play map animations". If you prefer the way it was before, you can keep using the old version, http://www.tribalwarsmap.com/noflash/. However it is not possible to make the new version scrollable, as too much relies on the map not being scrolled.

Can you PM me your browser, browser version and OS.
Try clearing your cache first though, it might solve odd bugs like these.

I found one inconvinient thing. As was written ealier, now the view of minimap and zooming out was connected to each other. The problem is, it isnt possible to configre colours of the lines of sectors in a map like it is in minimap. When I zoom out, the map is turning into minimap, but the set of colour isnt visible like in minimap.

The second thing, it would be great if we could zoom out into 3%(only 6% is possible) - great for creating the wider maps.

The last thing I thought about is to enable describing continents by proper names when map is zoomed out. By "K-x" where x is equal to proper number of the continent :>

Sincerely,
Akhal

1: I'm afraid I don't understand, you're saying that, when you zoom out the map looks like the Minimap and uses the same colour scheme, for some reason that isn't very visible compared to the Minimap?

2: You're right, the Minimum zoom would be 4% however (2px per village), 2002px - 2002px, which on an 17inch LCD would display about 60% of the entire map. I'll add it to the to-do list.

3: Not a bad idea, I'll add it to the to-do list to include as a non-default option (one that has to be manually enabled).

Ad 1.

I was writing about that, you can set some colours for minimap things like sector line for example. These colours arent shown if you zoom out the map(and turn it into minimap resized to full screen). It could be very usefull if you could set colours as you want, to make the zoomed out map, better, more flexible

As far as I'm aware, the minimap colour settings apply to the map when you zoom out to a no-icon zoom size (10%, 8%, 6%). However while testing I did notice one bug, if you change the minimap sector line colour or the minimap continent line colour, neither the map nor the minimap updates until the next refresh. I'll fix the bug as quickly as possible.

I might have missed something, but i can only the see top 30% of the map vertically (horizontally fills screen). It's fine on the 'mini map' zoom levels, just not with normal map icons (Higher zoom).

Otherwise, I like it so far Great work

You mean the map does not extend full-screen? Make sure your Minimap position isn't "Outside bottom-left", otherwise change it to "Bottom-left" at Minimap settings. Since the map automatically fills up your entire screen now, resize options were removed to reduce code complexity (it is easier to design and code from the perspective that the map fills your entire screen).

That's got it, tyvm

More zoom levels would be nice too. Probably hard introducing new icons etc

Village icon zoom-sizes increase the Flash file size significantly (all images are preloaded), the included sizes are a balance between file-size and number of zooms, there was a 75% icon size set but it was removed due to the file-size.

Next part of suggestions :>

The thing I looked at was an abandoned village. If you turn the filter on, even after highlightning it, you can't see it if you choose the option to show only selected villages/highlighted. What set I prefer ? These with choosen tribal shown and signed as a destination(to conquer) abandoned villages. Without anything more(untribed villages, unhighlighted villages).

I tried to higlight the village, sign village, nothing works at all. Always was shown something more than I wanted to(thats a small thing of course, nothing important).

The second suggestion is to expand highlighed(as an enable/disable option)villages(after zooming out the map)villages from 2 px into for example 4 px round points, to make the map more clear to look at. Of course it isn't needed, because that thing I can do with photoshop :> But if it is possible, it would decrease time spent on photoshop work

The third thing is to place in one of map corners(as a enable/disable option), the legend of highlighted villages/tribes/players with possibility of setting the transparency of it.

Bug report -> (maybe it is connected to polish translation) Setting/Hotkeys -> the window appearing is so wide

Sincerely,
Akhal

1: I'm afraid I don't really understand. I'll try to answer your question from what I interpreted:
Abandoned villages are hidden if you choose "Abandoned status"->"Not abandoned", so it'll be hidden if you choose "Only display highlighted" and "Not abandoned" is selected there.

2: I'll add it the the to-do list.

3: There is one problem having such a feature like this though, the legend can be larger than your screen, this is particularly true for those with small screens. However I'll add it to the to-do list, a workaround can be having multiple horizontal lines of highlights and ultimately cropping the rest that doesn't fit on it.

4: I've fixed that one immediately, there are more bugs with translations though, as you can see from the settings menu, the fixed-width tabs on top have problems with the longer Polish texts too. I'll make some adjustments for the next patch to make it look proper. If you notice any places where the layout is off, please notify me.

me wants 2.2 back
Simply zooming to 10%, 8% or 6% does exactly the same as the Minimap Map overlay, it even has a great number of added advantages. Version 2.2 is also still available, I suggests you take a look first.
