What is ODA and ODD

I have trouble actually knowing what exactly is ODA and how it works.
If you attack a barbarian village, that doesnt count as an opponent right? only other players and can someone define what defeating an opponent is so that you have an ODA of 1 to start with (is it bringing back at least 1 successful troop or nobling another person's village?)
and how does ODD work in that sense too

When you attack any other vilalge, barbarian, or active, and there are troops in that village, then you get a score for how many troops you kill, and what type they are. This is ODA

When your village gest attacked, you get a score for how many troops you kill and what types they are. This is ODD.

That means when you kill enemy troops in enemy village/s
Opponents Defeated as Defender

This means when enemy troops die in your village/s
