Turtles Eating Avocados

Have you ever seen a turtle trying to eat an avocado? They start biting in the middle, taking big chunks with a goal of breaking up the fruit into smaller more manageable pieces. Turtles are so clumsy without being able to hold their food; they try to bite into the fruit turning it into a squishy pulp ending us having most of the food around their faces and on the shell instead of the stomach. So turtles are always hungry for more avocados, making more mess around the aquarium and so much waste. What is even worst, turtles tend to poop while eating adding to the mess and leaving behind a really bad smell.

Divide and Conquer

Divide and rule (or divide and conquer, from Latin dīvide et īmpera) in politics and sociology is gaining and maintaining power by breaking up larger concentrations of power into pieces that individually have less power than the one implementing the strategy. The concept refers to a strategy that breaks up existing power structures, and especially prevents smaller power groups from linking up, causing rivalries and fomenting discord among the people.[1]

The strategy has been used in war and politics since the ancient times. Used by Romans to conquer Gaul or Macedonia, used by Mongols in conquering central Asia, Used by Bolsheviks and Joseph Stalin in 1920’s or by Nazis for seizure and consolidation of total power by the National Socialist German Workers Party. The basic principle of the strategy in War-Politics when facing a united opponent is to divide the enemy, and then attack the weakest part and then use the propaganda and intimidation to divide further the remaining parties. The strategy is highly successful as long as there is a little crack on the opponent so a wedge can be used starting the division.

Divide and Conquer in TW

Some of you might be already guessing where I am going with this. Tribal Wars is no different to the real world and divide and conquer has been used since the beginnings of time.

In recent history we had a great example of how effective the strategy was and how swiftly a tribe can conquer and dominate the world without having to fight much.

For those of you who didn’t play W80 Gents was the tribe that got people talking for months. They were well organised under the command of Brad (thin Blue Line) and very quickly they grow from a small size outer core tribe to a monster devouring everyone on its path.

The world’s settings of 80 member limit were the perfect conditions for Gents to use Divide and Conquer. They would intimidate tribes offering merges and recruitment for several best accounts while eating all the rest. They would grow fast interning a lot of inactive accounts moving from tribe to tribe and no one could stop them. But with all their glory Gents created unbelievable amount on hate. Externals were fuming; people and tribes soon united in a front and Gents break down under heavy pressure and internal issues.

Divide and Conquer on W90

TEA has started a little bit differently to Gents with so much stronger roster, solid leadership and more rim-like starting location. TEA has adopted the same Divide and Conquer strategy and they have mastered it to perfection now to the point where Al Murph could write a guide based solely on his tribe’s doings.

I would like to sum up TEA’s path to glory so far:

FRUIT
Operation resulting in 12 conquers
Recruited 4 best accounts including Mia Khalifa, Balian in Ibelin, Kon Tiki and Beautyandthebeast69.

PSSST!
Maelyss convinced to give information against his own tribe
Recruitment of the spy and using him for surprise attack of villages with least defences.

https://forum.tribalwars.net/index.php?threads/tea-party-in-k54.278759/

BSB
Operation resulting in capture of 5 villages
Recruitment of The Devil Bunny, daredeiler, ?flowerpower?, d3athdealer, surtursfire, pahii, charles25, tokoshee, nardus and jijCancuck

Jager
Well prepared operation targeting Good Game ? in the first wave.
Recruitment of Good Game ? the same day

ANTZ
Gaining information about ANTZ from TheBigGinge
Recruitment of TheBigGinge just before the operation was launched
sneaky al and his wily minions strike again! hihihih

WET
Intimidating WET to remove incoming impact for a NAP
Signed NAP divided WET making Dread Doctors leave
Recruitment of Dread Doctors
Implementing spies in WET offering recruitment
Running full scale operation on weakened and divided opponent

TEA NEEDS MORE ROOM
TEA was not as fortunate with member limit as Gents on W80. They had so much recruitment to do but so tiny room in the tribe. Al has quickly established P-W being a warehouse for future internals. It has ex TEA members that had to be moved cause of space needed for Dist. It has recruited ex WET, WET! and Negan, really anyone that liked the easy solution.

2HARD

Offer of recruitment to HardNutz
Gaining information from the player
Recruitment of HardNutz the moment 2HARD declared
Running a fully prepared op in response to the declaration

In summary

As you can see TEA is always in search for weak and disloyal members willing to sell their tribe and being recruited by Al. He has tried it with members of Infamy as he knows well that is the only way he can gain advantage. I am sure he is trying to have spies in BiP and he has them in 2HARD. Al will scheme, divide, recruit, internal and repeat until he gets his win.

I have to say the strategy is very effective, but if you recruit people who are willing to betray their tribe are you not worried they will one day abandon you? You recruited some spies, liars, turn cloaks and cowards adding them to a group of great players you had from the start. Half of your team if not more is made out of good, respectable, decent players. Don’t you think they would one day wake up and say, wait a minute; it is not the premade tribe we signed up for? To win for all cost is actually making me feel uneasy.

I just hope I opened your ayes to what TEA really is:

HardNuts said in the interview:

Has TEA never really approached you? They have been rimming ANTZ badly preparing the future front with BiP. One of the natural things to do would be talking to you as the top account. Somehow I can't believe it has not happened?

True answer? They have not approached me for recruitment. They have approached us to work together vs tribes etc because we share some of the same short term goals. It's not really TEA's style if you ask me. They are a war tribe and they sit in a strong position. Recruiting isn't really needed as they seem to be able to crack the walls of their enemies without much effort.

Also:

Well we have finally found a duke who doesn't hit disband the moment they loose a village, I've been loyal to ANTZ for over 4 years my tribe has been disbanded and i have fought til the last village on countless worlds. In the UNLIKELY event that happens i guess the most logical next step would be for me to consider the options and consider whether we continue our war vs BIP. Bill still has his fetish for Jason, and I won't be dictated to as to who can or can't coplay me

What about Hate, you often said people hate TEA out of jealousy, here is a peace I wrote about Gents on W80. Most of the points apply to your tribe as well. You even have Balian who back then betrayed his tribe, and here he is in your tribe trying to betray you.

Have you ever wondered acrokid1 why Gents are subject to such flaming and why they are generally disliked on the externals? The answer is actually quite simple. Being tribe ranked 1 you need to cope with certain amount of criticism regardless of what you do. Hugging, warring, internalling, barb nobling, there is always going to be someone to criticize you for it. But that is the price you pay for being number one and for the ultimate win.

Some tribes in Gents position would play it more humbly, going for the win not telling the whole world how quickly they are going to do it. But other tribes (including Gents) are so confident they decide to announce it at every occasion and respond with arrogance to those who oppose this view.

Yeh this world has revolved around constant flaming, with little respect but I suppose it has worked with everyone now finally targeting Gents.

Flaming is in nature of externals of a game that is about fighting between large groups of people with different views. It is as natural for humans as breathing air. When you have a situation where top tribe is leading by far in all stats it is a natural magnet for flaming. You can ignore it, you can argue with it but you can't bloody stop it until you win or lose.

Gents get flamed for taking in active, battle tested players who come across through war. Then get flamed for hugging.

If you are talking about people like GodZ Nova or Balian in Ibelin they have been leaders of large tribes and when joining Gents they have abandoned(betrayed) a lot of people and they have made a lot of people angry. That is the source of half of your flaming. It was probably a wise move to recruit those players in terms of strategy but it had its consequences.

Gents start new war. Gents get flamed for warring because the opposition tribe disbands/falls apart.

Flaming is not happening because Gents started wars. People play this game to fight wars but when Gents leadership sends intimidating circular mail to a tribe (Echo) day after the war started people don't like it. It was effective as it helped bring Echo down but it left bitter taste across the externals.

Gents get flamed for supporting bugz. Gents get flamed for not supporting bugz.

First of all you have allied a tribe that have been disliked since the beginning of times so what do you expect?

I would not call it flaming, people said multiple times that Gents are supporting BugZ. Everyone knows both tribes are allied, everyone knows Gents were supporting against Regime and Destiny but yet Gents would deny it. I don't see reason why deny it if you are officially allies and that is what allies do. All those unclear signals won't generate any positive feelings.

Gents get flamed for merges and allies. Every other tribe allies together to take down Gents.

Your merging strategy proven to be so effective, Invict, Echo, IT, you picked up the best players officially naming all the leftover players food. It's a lot of enemies you have made every time you merged like this. But Thinblueline's strategy is working, giving you so much fire power and many talented players. I am sure Brad has seen that flaming coming but he weighted the benefits and thought its more valuable to have those players than being praised on externals. I can see he is a focused man, focused on winning regardless of consequences.

In summary I would say that Gents are still considered the first in the race for the Iron Throne. Gents leadership decided long time ago on it's strategy, going to the top with the littlest resistance possible with no regards to 'human lives'. That strategy brought the tribe a great power but it has created dozens of enemies speaking out on the externals. It would be much easier for Gents if they didn't use players like Lord Batan or I'm your Ally to post immature, offensive comments on the forums, or If they haven't been so overconfident and arrogant in some of their comments. But it's to late now, the damage has been done, all remaining enemies are now uniting in 3 major opposing tribes. The interesting thing is players from those tribes don't dream at night about wining the world, they are dreaming of stopping Gents from winning the world.

Tea has offered me a spot in their tribe, several times. Even when we were allies i got the "You should join when time is right" kind of bullshit. Several of our top accounts have been offered, we are unsure of how many they went to - But their were quite a bit.

2Hard chose to make a stand against Tea, knowing Very well it could be the end off us. Hardnutz chose the easy way, by leaving those who trusted him the most. Funniest part was when he told me he had been screwed in many worlds before x) Well, i guess some do have it comming for them.

Like the read.

Why compare us to a turtle? We're the complete opposite. We're rank 1 in ODA among other achievements. We're more like tigers or lions. Hell, why can't we be dinosaurs? We have a Trex leading for goodness sake.

I haven't read this thread yet. I'm gonna guess it's another biased Nest thread bashing TEA. Scrap the next tribe Vlog. The roast of Nest is coming.
