is what I'm talking about I don't care much for forum personalities and blah
That's paradoxical, likely just an out from responsibility(I'm too cool to care about the effectiveness of my persona) , it's a tool any good player or leader should understand. I just didn't care enough to find the spelling of your name

Or likewise, you know exactly how to spell my name after searching it in the rankings and mailing me for being a farming 'n00b' but need to uphold the 'Im too cool to know how to spell your name' vibe making the conscious effort to do so

Sussed matty x
Naa you were just on the top of the farming list was meant to be light hearted to people who I'd seen before who were farming when they could have been not farming I'm trying to save your wrists! That carpal tunnel
Oh look, a topic about toxicity in the forums turns toxic.
Who could have seen that coming.
Silly people, calling someone out for ingame things is the point the point isn't to whine every time someone forcefully disagrees with you. The important distinction is to not constantly harass someone say real life insults ext ext. This is what happened right before the stupid toxic shit. Propaganda, increasing and decreasing others public image or altering it is the entire point it's politics and propaganda but hugs and love. Now calling you a moron who lives in his mother's basement and your girlfriend left you ext ext this shit which takes place all too often that toxic and not in the realm of the game or image. Fair enough distinction for you?

You want interesting discussion? Be the change you want to see, the forums were lively and interesting when the game first started and it wasnt that popular, they had people talking doing it in character, interviews where they stayed in character calling each other infidels, then you had world wars where people would do real life style propaganda, then you had interesting and vivacious characters who would debate troll, make light hearted jabs at each other. It's not a stretch to say that when I was actively trying to involve the community that I personally altered both atmosphere and quantity of posters in my world, Ive never been the best at that sort of thing, Ive always been more of a debater, but it's not particularly hard, I imagine this is why I have about 6 people who regularly check in on the 95 forums that they never played just to see whats going on. And again this isnt really my area of expertise

If you ask me it's not only the quantity but the quality of the person that has diminished there are few if any personalities anymore outside well myself, grandtoreno, brad and many of the people who exist dont do it with style or flair debating making light hearted jabs, you guys are for lack of a better word complete assholes with no flair imagination or good spirt to your insults you're mean angry little annoying peons.

This post like a million per cent.

Used to love the forums years ago - as said there was effort put into posts but a combination of dying interest and p2w aspects have ruined it for some (the game certainly doesn't have the same appeal).

I yearn for the days when I would waste hour upon hour on here but at the same time this game just requires too much time to enjoy at it's fullest.

Complaining about a dead forum is not providing a solution and is really not helpful.

I wasn't so much complaining as much as I was trying to start a discussion and do exactly what you recommended I do - and it worked.

Please cut out the insults, people. The toxicity is however a concern and it's an important question.

There are however a few things to consider in relation to that:
The rules already disallow RL-related insults and the like, but not in-game related. Clearly the toxicity isn't restricted to the former, which brings us to the point DisplayOnly brought up...
Us moderators are here to moderate, which means handling rule-breaking: can we, and for that matter, should we, actually try to 'moderate' toxicity? Where goes the line for what kind of behaviour that is actually acceptable (outside of the general ones set down by the rules, and the manners ones are very old and it is not really enforced since it's too broad - it's more enforced on the divide between RL and in-game)? This is after all a PvP game. Where-ever there are directly opposing opinions, there will be conflict, and there will be a degree of 'toxicity'. How should that kind of toxicity be worked against?
Also, if we were to start cracking down on 'toxicity', this would be very heavily up to different moderators' personal judgement, as drawing a clear line would be near-on impossible (which we can already see in more defined cases in the forum rules). This could also be issues, since nobody likes inconsistencies.

It's part of the problem who wants to keep getting real world specific personal insults out here, it's become a fairly toxic community. I've had specific threats to myself and family, images of me dead, in porn all created in the few months I've been back supported by and defended as part of the game in the forums. This is certainly a major issue with it.
This is, however, a big issue in my book: any kind of personal threats, those kinds of pictures... It's completely unacceptable and I find it nothing less than disgusting and pathetic that some people would do it, stoop that low. On the forums, naturally, this kind of thing would render in a permanent ban. Because we have rules. But it haven't happened on the forums, or in-game(?), but rather on external communication platforms like Skype and Discord, correct? Which unfortunately we can't moderate, or take action on. All I can do about it is disapproving of it, but that hardly will stop the kind of individual that just want to bash on others.

Yes outside of the forums and game, however the actions were when my co got fed up and posted about it widely defended as part of the game and to stop whining, as I said the quality of person playing this game has certainly gone down. It is no more accurately summed up than in this thread where people think *GranTorinov and I arguing about projecting certain personas is viewed as toxic and people stepping far outside of the boundaries is just part of the game. People don't like to examine their own views when they're dumber, statistically speaking. The constant harassment of certain members like balian/sir Cornish and others certainly happens here which I've brought up to you personally. And the real life insults about exes and stuff certainly happens in the forums they're certainly not moderated particularly well. And the moderators I've seen aren't active or adept enough to notice subtle things like this. Or outright sometimes the n word was on 95 for a few days and 0 bans. But hey

First of all, not aloud to or going to discuss specific moderation cases here.

Second, you make it sound like everything that didn't render in a ban was outright ignored. There's a wide range of infraction punishments in between nothing and a ban.

Third, take this Cornish/Balian thing you bring up. It shouldn't be part of the game in your opinion. It's toxic, you'd say. But this is the very point I brought up too: this is a PvP game. Some things will be the talk of the town, some mistakes will be brought up all the time. Is it toxic? It might well be. But it isn't an obvious thing where the line should be drawn when it comes to in-game stuff, when it's a PvP game. That's something I'd like to see discussion on: the nature of the toxicity, the extent of it, and how it can be handled.

I think these forums are a reflection of the world itself.... I mean the core 4 Ks haven't even filled out yet :p ... I feel like this is the smallest world yet :( but could be wrong :p

Plus I don't know many who were excited for a scavenging world :(

Everyone just wants to jump to w 100

Scavenge can be used in both def and off .Used correctly it can give some problems even to veteran players

If you're a new player just joining tw ,this is the most accessible world for you
