Sorry to see you go, rather a sad way to go, rather have seen you go down in a hail of fire and rain on the battle field, but hey, we can't all choose our death.

i don't know you at all, but i respect you for runnig the tribe HOT as you did. I never was attacked by anyone from HOT but admired the tribe's climb up the ranking and the formation of HOT2, i do believe the least we can do is leave Jester's villages to rest in peace.

I know that this is not the place to talk about details, but...

If it turns out that the bans were not for legit reasons, I hope we are all informed somehow. As I would then like to stop playing, and tell everybody I know that the game is not worth playing.

Do you realize you just gave the admins reason in your post to NOT tell anyone?

Thank you for your a great time in HOT, thank you not only for creating a tribe but and turning it into a great one -a great power in a great game. HOT to me was not just a tribe, it was a darn fine group of people under formidable leadership -and this owed much to you.

I'm sure you know well enough that there is life after TW (though it may not always have seemed like it while still playing), and I wish you all the best in the real world.

jester's situation:
- attacks directly related with an admin in DEATH
- DEATH admin directly related to banning him and several HOT players

dar/sov situation:
- tw has NO admins in our tribe
- in fact, most the admins HATE us, as we seem to cause more changes in the game (tribe limit, bot checks, etc) than anyone
- furthermore, most admins ignore us whenever we lodge a complaint

so yes dar.. way to bring up your problems in jester's thread.. with the EXACT same situation :icon_rolleyes:

Respectfully bot checks should be inplace on any online game where a bot can give one player an advantage over another (more so if the bot is doing the work, farming/spending down).
I have seen some good games utterly ruined by bots :icon_sad:
Most people would rather play against people and not a bot.
Using TW and bot in the same statement takes away from the ability of TW players and nothing really to be proud of/angry about (imo).

Do many tribes have game admins in their tribes? :icon_confused: (I honestly dont know).

Jester will be missed. :icon_sad:

Save for a few which were banned permanently, TW players never actually used bots - there was a script which kept track of the resources available in a farm, thus allowing for efficient farming. Nothing more than an automatic spreadsheet program really. However, such a script has since been ruled illegal, and thus we stopped using it (personally I think such a feature should be made available in-game, so that no one could complain about "unfair advantage"). Regardless, the use of scripts did spur the onslaught of CAPTCHA tests, which is why Barcardi mentioned it in his post.

When scripts (bots) are automated is when you have a serious problem, tools that replace skill is another (this is just a general comment re: bots/scripts).

Thanks for clearing that up -Bane.

Agreed -- automated game activities is where it crosses the line.

In any case, on topic -- Jester, appeal the ban. <3

Pity to see such a strong and wise player go.
I didnt know him very well, but on those few circumstances we did speak he came across as a humourous and smart individual.
Shame, i really didnt think he would disobey rules, he didnt seem like that kind of person.
Well, im sure he will be missed by many of us here in the TW community.
But this means there will be a new duke in HOT. I wonder who it will be :O

I guess I should say goodbye to. he led a great tribe that I was a member of for my short time in W3. his tribe also stood by REZ until our downfall honourably. His leadership will be remembered.

I imagined that you would have left the game to some peaceful circumstance in real life, not being forced to leave like this...

Goodbye Jester,

Your people have always been good to me. I'm sure you have something to do with that.

First, Jester, I didn't always get along with you, but you're one of the game's central players, so its a shame to see you go. Also, don't take any offense at the following. ;) Unfortunately, however, you know that I can't honor your request to not talk of certain things. I don't care whose life it makes harder.

Second, with regards to the obvious speculation, my only question is this - Why did it take admins so long to come up with such a fair ruling based on IP origins, which is a check that takes all of 10 seconds? As far as I can recall, Jester has been playing since...What, the game went live? It took -this- long for the Admins to find out? Why? I'd like a reason for the Admins to have allowed a series of broken accounts (ruled illegal, thus should-not-have-been-played) to have ruined my tribe? Surely there is some reimbursement when Admins make grievous mistakes, allowing illegal accounts to play for months? In fact...I'm pretty sure there's very, very simple programs that will mark duplicate IPs for inspection. I know that I won't get an answer to "How do admins check for rule-violations," but somehow I get the feeling the answer isn't through random sweeps, which companies ranging from Swirve to Warfield Games do - It would be an incredible coincidence for a random sweep to have caught the cheating going on now as opposed to any time in the prior six months. Certainly the lay player is going to think that something is suspect - A random sweep just happens to catch someone when the attacks are against an Admin-favored tribe, but failed for six months and through at least one war?

Third, the sad truth is, this is not the first case or even raising of this issue. As a long-time player of this game, and someone whose bandwidth goes in part to getting hits for the company's banner ads, I'd like a statement from the ownership of TW addressing rumors regarding the questionable nature of certain admin actions, such as scanning databases for reports that have not been read by the players themselves. Some of these things I don't even think are possible - such as getting reports out of databases - but with this latest incident, I'd really like some form of official statement. I know I don't pay for my account, but I also know I've recruited people to this game who have (Stiff, for example.). I also know for certain that I am not going to pay for an account if there is -any- possibility it will be hijacked/hacked/unfairly shut down. In fact, I haven't even paid for a platinum Utopia account, and I've played that game in varying amounts since it came out when I was...14? And played Earth: 2025 before that.

So, for all the consumers out there interested in paying for or retaining their premium benefits, I think we deserve some sort of explanation from an owner as to what is going on...Guess it took the departure of a young-game legend to get me to post here again, huh? *Shrug* Sucks to see you go, Jester man...Especially under these circumstances. Hopefully, we will recieve a well deserved response from one of the owners that explains it all? Both the riddiculous accusations and the reasonable ones? Will ex-Dragon get its villages back in payment for the greviously late apprehension of a vile, vile cheater? Or will someone come foward, bravely, and concede there is something afoot? I know, I dream...

Jester, my friend, welcome back to reality. :) I hope it serves you well, and feel free to look me up if you ever need some laughs.
