This is a particular pet peeve of mine, it would be "Does he at least pay you well."

You are doing well in response to how you are.
You are doing good when you fight crime like superman.
Cars run well, not good. -_- I dont normally do grammar nazi shit but that is like nails on a chalkboard to me.

Your sentences seemed to ramble together and didn't explain anything, which should be your real pet-peeve when you attempt to explain something and it makes you look illiterate. It's alright Patrick, you did "good"! ;)

Good works in that situation. I thought it was pretty clear, though you can be good in response to how you are but then we'd be talking about linking and action verbs and it would be a lot more complicated. The general example is you are well and you do good. Ie fighting crime is a good action but you feel well. Adjective vs adverb
