Attack Planner Redesign

I can see a few problems with this:
  1. Players usually have different nuke and defense builds and specifying specific types of troops will not be possible, and will be confusing. A simple alternate approach can be to set population limits, such as 19k pop for attack or support. When it is a fake, it can be set to 80-90 or even 1. Another approach could be to set offensive power, and defensive power as limits to the attack, so that if def builds are sent instead of nukes, it doesnt completes the order.
  2. Players are use to using space as the delimiter between coords and many external tools and scripts do the same, so I feel its enough just to have a space. No need to display an additional comma.
  3. One of the most important feature I feel can be very helpful is which village can complete the order. Currently, I find most people to develop a plan from FX Utility planner or other scripts, and paste in their notebooks, specifying the village, target and launch time. While so much effort is being done in the planning, if the execution part is added in, it will greatly enhance the player experience. With what is shown, I feel a major hurdle for me will be to extract the coords I need to send the attacks from and then put them in another tool, which will require using excel or other tools to strip the target villages to the coords. If the the user can specify groups to be used to complete an order, and the game can generate a plan for them, it will be really helpful. The plans could be visited from a feature similar to notebook or the notebook itself, such that it shows the pending orders, highlights attacks to be sent in the next 5 mins, or orders missed , etc.

Something that has come up on Discord is that this would become less and less viable once accounts and tribes reach a large size because of the volume of orders you'd need going way past any limits (similar to the Player Notebook which becomes obsolete after 3+ months due to the bracket limitations).

To counteract this, could each order also include the 'number of sends required' as an option, and the tick only appearing once that number of sends has been completed? I wouldn't want it to be over-complicated by being set to each individual user separately within the order, just to say something at the top of the order along the lines of:

Attacks per village required: 3
or
Supports per village required: 7

Agreeing with Googly that it would be great to be able to add amount of attacks on one village instead of having to do multiple orders to make that happen, and for me it would be great if it was possible to add fakes and fangs also so you can easily make different OPs (so Nuke, Support, Fake, Fang, Noble as options pretty much)..

And also... Attack Planner is often used when you talk about planning your sendings on villages (= Launch time), but this feature is used to plan Tribal OP, so why not rename this feature as "Tribal OP Planner" to make it clear what it actually is... and why not make this be a feature for everyone to use and not just Dukes etc. so players can make OP planners for themself (= visible only for the player)..

The Map
Make the map overview symbols dynamic, meaning that if orders are completed you will have a check symbol on the specific village. When its not completed it should be shown as an X mark or simply just the regular axe symbol (doesnt really matter) so you can visually see what's completed and whats not just by looking at the map. Symbols doesn't have to be check mark and X, just something that will show you whether its completed or not on the map.
map-thingy.png

Note: The order should and would not show as completed if player A have sent their nukes to meet the request of the order, but player B have not sent their nukes to meet the request of the order. The request as a whole should be completed for this to be marked as completed.

Order 1
Player A - 2/2 nukes sent
Player B - 1/2 nukes sent
-
Not Completed

Order 2
Player A - 2/2 nukes sent
Player B - 2/2 nukes sent
-
Completed

The Order Assignment
Make all things related to these kind of orders if possible, rights based. So it can be organized by the leader of the tribe and if needed other members that got this access added to their account through the rights based system thats already in place such as the internal forums etc.

The Order List
Just go without pop requirements and or any size requirements at all. It doesnt make sense for any players, whether its an average player or someone who is experienced. Everyone have different templates. It would be easier to have some kind of info box in the order where upon the creation of the order you can put some description about the objective for the order. Maybe this can also go hand in hand with the map overview thingy. For example you want to create a cat order to demolish a village, you select the catapult symbol, add 3 attacks for player A to send and then you simply write in the description. "Catapult this target 3 rounds with catapults, target building X Y and Z."
If it was nukes rather than catapults attack you simply just change the symbol to a ram and add a different description to the order.

Attack Planner Redesign

Hello, brave adventurers, lords, and ladies!

A while ago, we announced that our Developers are currently working on a redesign of the Attack Planner feature - one of those features that have been outsourced to external pages for years. We are happy to announce that the development is now complete and is coming to all markets in version 8.250 that will be release on Monday, July 19th.

Design Changes

The current Attack Planner is, mildly put, bad.
After months of development and after asking you, our community, what they would like to have for the new Attack Planner, we are now in a state of being happy with the result.

The new attack Planner will be split into 3 key sections and will be accessed the same way as the current Attack Planner. These three sections are the map, the order list, and the order assignment form.

The Map

To access the Attack Planner, first, you need a Premium Account. Once you have an active premium membership, the next time you visit the Map screen, you will notice a new check box under display options that reads "Show Attack Planner".

By clicking this box, you will see a new section underneath the map. To create a new Attack order, simply click on the button ‘Create a new Attack order’ – very self-explanatory.
After naming your order e.g. IeatNoobz, you now can either type in coordinates manually, or even more simply, just select a village directly from the map by clicking it once, which inserts the coordinates for you. Clicking it again will unselect it. You can select up to 50 villages every for individual order and the amount of orders you can create is unlimited.

Then, select the Arrival time for your order to tell your Tribe when to send out the order from their end. You can also repeat the order up to 10 times automatically by ticking the checkbox underneath. Now, you can select if your order is an Attack, a Fake, or a Support.

Next, you can select the units for this Order that shall be sent out to conquer your foe. The last step is to choose the players that will receive your orders. You either can select a single player individually or a group of players all at once.

Then, click ‘Create Order’ and your commands will be relayed to your loyal tribemates. This concludes how to send out an Attack Order. Let us now move onto the next step, which is…
The Order List

The Orders that you create will be sorted into a list. By clicking a created Order, you will be able to review it again. It will show you the villages you selected, as well as the number of Orders, expected Arrival time, Order type, Troops, and the players you selected to carry out the order. It is also possible to edit the order at any given point, delete - or even export it in plain text.

The last step is from the point of view of the selected players and is called…

The Rally Point Overview

Everyone knows the Rally Point, but as soon as there is a new Attack Order created, there will be a new section on the bottom of it, showing all the Orders that were planned by your Tribe aristocracy. You can sort them by a variety of options, but by default, it’s by Arrival time. To see the details of an Attack Order, you can expand it by clicking it. You then can see all the information that was given in the order and set them up accordingly.

To set up an attack, you just have to click the village that is being shown in the planned attack. The Attack Planner will fill out all information like coordinates and such by itself.
The only thing that is now left is to win the fight and beat your enemy, together as a team!

Your Opinion?

As we want the Attack Planner to be used by as many of you as possible, the redesign tackles the entire Attack Planner and changes it drastically. Because of this, we'd like to have your feedback on it! If you do have any questions, please let us know in this feedback thread.

We want all of you to find it useful and if there is anything we can do to improve it, we will try to tackle it. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

Yours,
The Tribal Wars Team

This is something that I dont see anyone asking for, players want to have a easier time planning their own sendings. No one will use this. Better off just copying the bases of TW AAP or fxutility and fix so players can fit their OPs into notebook and not having to rely on external storage solutions

Please add an option to turn off the "click and hold" to mark villages so you can move the map like normal.

Turning off the attack planner is still making this feature be active (without marking villages) so you have to refresh page for it to be like normal, please fix.

Please allow to type in the time instead of using arrows when trying to decide landing/arrival time.

Please fix the troop order, Spear -> Sword -> Axe ->Archer -> Scout -> LC -> MA -> HC -> Ram -> Cats -> Paladin -> Noble
And add Paladin to be an option as a unit to send in attack, sometimes you want to have paladinnukes / paladindeff etc.

Please can add a widget somewhere on the quick bar that tells people an order has been issued - ideally different ones for support, attack and fake? Maybe not RIGHT next to where the existing attack and support widgets are! Perhaps in a new box to the left of res?

I've been playing around with it on W121 and find it very intuitive and helpful. We'll test it to destruction over the next few weeks as nobles start flying around and I'll give as much feedback from my tribe as possible.

Thanks for coming up with this, so much better than before!

Summary of comments so far:

- Please add a widget to the quickbar / top of screen
- Please add an 'order complete' button for players. Organisers can then check and complete orders as a group - very helpful for packets.
- Please have a quick link box below the template box - currently getting lost below farming orders

@.MAXIMUS. ,

The Attack Planner is a feature which is available only to Tribe Leaders for them to prepare plans and assign them to players. Seems like you do not have tribe leader permissions on that world/tribe.

I see, well this feels a bit discriminatory.
This is a tool of great importance and only few have access to it.

Hi,

This is the same as with the old Attack Planner. However, we have received this feedback from several other players as well, so we will be looking into it!

Thanks for your feedback!
