We lost 2 wars to america but we arent the worlds super power and weve never lost on home soil. morale plays its part in war like this game. nowadays i think britain tends to just go along with US policy but it would seem that our new prime minister wont be as close to bush as blair was. Although the US remains our best ally we have to look at an interdependent world. in the words of our foreign office minister.

Ok i see the war of independence being your first one although that was a rebellion and the country wasn't USA till afterwards so resting on the worlds biggest technicality that doesn't count but what's your second war?

The War of 1812 was fought between the United States of America and the United Kingdom and its colonies, especially Upper Canada (Ontario), Lower Canada (Quebec), Nova Scotia, and Bermuda. When the war had finished, 1,600 British and 2,260 American troops had died. The war was fought from 1812 to 1815 and involved both land and naval engagements. Britain was at war with France and, to impede American trade with France, imposed a series of restrictions that the U.S. contested as illegal under international law. The Americans declared war on Britain on June 18, 1812 for a combination of reasons: outrage at the impressment of thousands of American sailors into the British navy, frustration at British restraints on neutral trade, and anger at British military support for Native Americans defending their tribal lands from encroaching American settlers.

Long story short America won. Although it was considered to be a draw it was a major win for America. Britain invaded and thanks to future president Jackson America won.

Sounds like everyone claimed victory in that one. Win by spin. No one gained any land and everyone got what they wanted out of the war Including Britain.
Sounds to me like we never lost a war against America.

Well it depends on how you look at it. Compare it to TribalWars. Say you attack a village with 1000 axemen and 600 light calvery. They are all killed but the defender loses 1130 spearmen and swordsmen. The defender lost more troops but the defender won.

Also you can't forget the Revolutionary War. America just kicked Britain's ass there. Not really but America only had few weapons, men and supply.

But we didn't attack America. For the majority of the war Britain fought a defensive battle and achieved its objectives in isolating supply to France and gaining American seamen as conscripts for the royal navy. America also made attempted invasions of Canada with as little success as the British offensives. And we did burn the white house.

As for the revolutionary war, you weren't Americans till you won so technically no. Besides your victory there was achieved in the same way as the viet cong victory. Despite the British holding lots of territory and winning many battles there was a lack of political will to continue the fight.

Perhaps but Britain did inavade and got kicked out. Yes we were called Americans before we won. There are records that George Washington told his men that they were fighting for America and that they were Americans. Also Britain did lose. We captured one of thier leading Generals and gave up. Either way it goes we're allies now and have fought side by side in many wars.

propaganda, I'm talking legal technicalities. George could call them moomins for all the truth it would hold.
The capture of the general was three years before the end of the war and had little bearing on the result. He was in London a year before the end of the war anyway.
The problem was the events leading up to the loss of yorktown resulted in a change in the British parliament for a party that wanted peace.

I'd also like to point out that the War of Independence provides proof that if you want the French to provide any sort of help in a war you'd better be fighting AGAINST Britain!

The French were a ruthless tribe of killers that compared to the Romans. Their downfall was eating garlic which made them wussies.

The French are only any good in wars against England, Every time they have been on our side they have thrown up the white flag after 5mins.

Been thinking about America, they are probably the only country with a positive balance of wars won v lost against England! Unless anyone else can name a country... Thats something to be proud of!

Also im pretty sure america has never lost a war(if they have say it but you probably dont have one to say)

but i didnt say it was a war ^^

but @ those who think America is great because they saved europe 2 times:

they came in in the latter part of both wars to be the heroes.
WW1: they joined with the allies because a non militairy ship was sunk by the germans,
a lot of american soldiers and equipment went down.
they still denie it, but there where weapons adn soldiers aboard that ship.

WW2:
they joined because the japanese attacked, Pearl Harbour, little german influence in there.
they just came in to eb the heroes adn to make england feel bad about having to call on American support again.

in the Declaration of independance, America refuses to have diplomatic/trade contact with England and never to help them.

ok so why do i have to think america did good in both wars?

___

about the V'Nam conflict: America didnt nuked the Viets because then the Commies would have nuked America

you can never win a war. A war is a process, which can not be won. you can win the land that is taken. but in a war there are no winners. only losses.

Well its not the best rifle. The HK416 is more known and reiable. any heckler and koch weapon is reliable including the XM8 but the HK416 which is an improved carbine which is up to date.

Yeah, peace actions like bombing a small country in the middle of nowhere, for not giving up it's lands.

America hasn't lost a true war but Vietnam(Still wasn't a war but whatever). We where catching up with Vietnam by bombing thier asses with our planes until we withdrew. We never lost military wise, only politically. Seriously, we will never lose, if we get bad enough down we will nuke.

If we lost it's because of:
Hippies
Parents
Dumbasses throwing tomatoes at troops
Truman

i feel sorry for you. you lost. the north viets and the vietcong who ere both commies which you aimed to stopped kicked your ass out. you withdrew to save lives but you lost the "vietnam WAR. Your primary objective was to defend the south which you failed miserably. and when you declared war that sorta means its a war.

The Vietnam War was never a constitutionally declared war under Article 1, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution. Rather, it was a military action Congress gave President Lyndon Johnson the power to initiate with its passing of the 1964 Gulf of Tonkin Resolution.
