i edited the above post, and i disagree. communism doesnt nessacarily control too much, in every communist society they have though. lets say this country elected a communist leader, right now, not much would change. people get these images of police in the streets with tear gas.. not the case. the communist party's primary objectives for this country would be to cut back on defense spending, immediately withdraw from iraq, raise taxes, and cut out useless programs and spending.. to make way for a free health care system.. humane border practices.. and more isolationist views on aid. instead of sending food to starving africans we would redirect it too the poor. and possibly a housing program, no more homelessness or families living with 8 children in condemned buildings. oh and wed start an environmental innitiative, global warming is very urgent in our minds. and we would probably try to rely a little less on other countries for certain goods.
the only people who would get screwed would be the amazingly rich, and corporations. the life of the average citizen wouldn't change save a small tax increase, the life of the poor would be better then ever, and the corporations would be screwed. nationwide buissness would be taxed up the ass and i imagine a capitalist or too possibly jailed.
the goal, at least over the short term would be to make some changes on a level above most americans, that would allow us to fund, large scale programs dedicated to easing the suffering of americans, without drawing up a huge debt.
as for the long term, we would see, but i doubt that after all the communist party has learned.. all the trial and error, that you would see another soviet union.
there would be bread on every table, roofs over every head.. doctors for every illness, jail cells for every scammer, and cleaner air for us all to breath. at the expense of a few extremely wealthy people? perhaps, but its for the greater good.

communism isn't evil. It is an excellent theory. It is however completely impractical when you take into account human nature. It also only works properly in a closed environment.

About communism - I'll add my voice to those saying communism is a great idea. It's human beings that can't live up to it. It would probably take a lot of evolution for the human psyche to be able to not become corrupt by the power communism can give.

not necessarily true. The communist governments in the past have attempted to do away with religion as a large religious administration undermines the absolute power of the state. This doesn't necessarily square with communism being incompatible with religion.

exactly human nature sucks, but i dont see any reason why so many people in this world disreguard the concept all together. just because hmans have screwed it up in the past doesn't mean it cant possibly work. imo its all about administration with a responsible government and a stable economy communism would work great!
as for that i agree, i personally think religion is an excuse to commit acts of violence, and i dont like too see it implemented IN THE GOVERNMENT, but individuals can do whatever they want really, its all their choice. but i find when religion plays a role in politics it always messes things up. even now, were at war with "islamic radicals" in iraq. and our government tries to claim that theres no religious prejudice or oil pipelines involved. in the end its all about money and power..
the real reason we're still oversees isnt "9/11" at this point its all about religion and oil tbh

communism is perfect in theory but seriously flawed when you try and apply it. there never was a true communist country and all those called communist were far from the ideal of love and togetherness. humans are corrupt.
you say no one came and proved it could be done. trust me, it's not only one man that has to do it (supposing there is someone who can stay clean when involved in leadership) but a whole bunch of them. the odds of finding lots of honest rulers to unite are very slim.
admit it, it's a nice dream but a dream and nothing more.
