Once upon a time the continent looked like this:
[spoil]K24
Angels 19.139 35
GLOBE 9.632 25
_@oW_ 7.996 22
H.i.T 5.630 11
T.T.F 4.462 15
Angels (Dark Angels):
Mostly in the SE corner of K24 at the present rim of the world. They also have members in the SW corner and the SW corner of K25.
47 members averaging 497 points each. 35 villages in K24.
These people are active! A credit to them. It looks like they are not afraid to throw their troops around to good effect and nobody is slapping them back much. I guess it is what you expect from the number one ranked tribe that is a recent construction from leading players.
Some of their leading players certainly have the ‘swagger’ if you look at the profiles but I could not be bothered to look at how they might rank on other worlds and, besides, each world requires that you prove yourself again….
I know one of them has well deserved rep but I hear that he was subjected to catapault assisted farming slavery by a newb on one world. Them’s the breaks, even for good players….
The creation of the tribe shows some strategic leadership skills and if they can hold it together as a tribe they are sitting at the right end of the rankings.
I never got around to finishing the continent analysis. The tribe didn't last, but many of the top players ar still around in strategic locations on the map or in other tribes.
And this...
K24
1 GLOBE - mass recruiters with a family tribe, adn that family tribe has a family tribe. fail.
2 Angels - was recently in this tribe. its meh. can never understand what the leader is saying because apparently hes got a broken finger for life. also mass recruiting LOW POINT players trying to surpass Global by points.
3 =K24= - got attacked by a few angels players. other than that dunno much about them
4 T.E - threatened me cause i was farming one of there players. that player left and tribe didn't do anything abut it. fail.
5 H.i.T - tribe i'm currently in. for some reason the H.i.T member i was farming (as well as three others near me) though that if he invites me in his tribe, i'll stop attacking. idk what he is thinking
6 T.T.F - some religious tribe. not gonna say anything in case some religious thing spurs out =T
7 _@oW_ - an academy tribe. fail
8 -C- - a tribe of 28 with a tribal OD of 12? huh!
9 ED - no idea
10 DGB - only decent tribe in this K. ranking 10 (almost 9) with three villages. my kind of tribe =]
[/spoil]
An interesting, promiscuous and almost incestuous continent. Looking at the present top tribe for example, just about all of the members have cycled through the other major tribes or major tribes from the continent in times past.
One rumour has it that there was a deliberate planting of deep cover insurgency agents in a number of tribes and that as these sleepers have been activated they have created havoc, destroying forums, dismissing members, creating false reports and basically destroying tribes from the inside out.
Who is the mysterious puppet master? Read on, write back and help to unravel the mystery....
FEAR
[spoil]Only 16 members with an average of 57K each ... intriguing...
These guys and girlz popped into existence on 17 January, and it seems that many of them may have suffered from Snow Phobia, but also Khan phobia, =K24= phobia and others. Those who lose a village or two are shown the door ... or maybe they just have a samari-style code of honour and they leave the tribe to go somewhere to die quietly. Perphaps they are the subject of Burn notices?
They seem to have a mixed diet of nobling live villages off other tribes and the tribeless, as well as a good tally of barbs. Sirpudd has got to be one of the unluckiest noblers in the tribe, either over-nobling himself or being over-nobled by senior tribe members? Is this a communication issue, a co-ordination issue? an inability to syncronise or just the senior keaders keeping their members in their place?
When they are not over-nobling themselves or each other, a few tribes have taken villages off them, but nothing that looks like war....
They have a curious distribution, roughly the eastern two thirds of the K, most densely located in the SE corner, then a gap as you move north before they start again, less densely packed.
Given there are only the 16 members, presumably hand-selected, the funny distribution is understandable, but it looks curious on a map. Maybe they'll fill in the gaps as time goes by and before other tribes invade the continent or try to penetrate them from within....
Its too early to call this tribe, although in K24 it seems that tribes break apart and reform as regularly as night follows day so it makes you want to rush a decision while they are still here. I'd like them to stick around for a whole 6 weeks before making any call because at the moment answering "How long will they last?" is like trying to answer "How long is a piece of (puppet) string".[/spoil]
LMAO! (and 2LMAO!)
[spoil]I really need to consider this family together, they are the 2nd and 7th ranked tribes, although even if you combined their K24 presence into a single tribe, they'd still be second behind FEAR.
LMAO has 55 members at 30K each and the 2LMAO Academy has another 37 members at 8K each.
Mostly in the South to SW part of K24, they also have quite a lot of members in K34, where they just look like fertilizer for growing NUTS.
They do have a finger of villages between the upper and lower folds of the FEAR villages to the east of K24. Since their tribal profile talks about how they penetrate, I guess we will need to see if FEAR welcome this penetration....
Looking at nobling, their penetration seems to be mostly focused on finding tribeless players or barbarians and getting them really, really drunk before doing the deed. They must have upset a more confident 'lady', a mistress no less, because she seems to be drinking them under the table and cutting off their body parts. :icon_eek:
My initial analysis is that there are a couple of players in this tribe who seem to travel everywhere together, moving at almost identical times, and who have left a trail of failed or damaged tribes behind them. Maybe they are just really good judges of when a tribe will fail and they get out just in time, or maybe they are the cause?
I think that this tribe will suffer from the China Syndrome and go into meltdown. Maybe we will see the "players in the know" pull their parachute strings and land in some other tribe?[/spoil]
ED
[spoil]No, not a talking horse (Don't you hate it when your LC stop and have a chat when they are meant to be farming or escorting a noble?), but the Empire of Darkness.
38 players with just an average of 4K points. You can see that the notional 3rd tribe here is a long way out of the league of other tribes which are mostly just moving into K24 from elsewhere...
They are sort of central in the continent, with a few random villages elsewhere.
While they are specialist in barb nobling, NwN and Snow seem to have been taking some bites out of them.
Because they are surrounded by much bigger tribes, and a duke/duchess has been mauled, I don't think that they will last much longer. Any diplomacy they have with their larger neighbours is probably just the big tribes stringing them along. Any diplomancy with smaller tribes is a safety line that is just swinging in the breeze.[/spoil]
~TCB~
[spoil]30 players with an average of 6K each. They are mostly on the southern edge of K14 and just dip their toes into K24 except for a tantilizing cluster of players right in the centre of K24, dangled as if by a yo-yo string, or like a marionette.....
Another specialist barb nobling tribe and with the OD to prove it ... oooh, I just had a thought, maybe the alluring villages in the middle of K24 are bait on a fishing line for ~TCB~ to land a big fish? Hmmm, I think that the harpoon technique is probably better. There is still a string attached to drag the fish in, but the fish is a bit more subdued. You don't want to get a big fish into the boat and have it flapping around and causing havoc.[/spoil]
Snow
[spoil]39 members with an average of 32K, this is a K23 tribe that is easing its way into K24 from the west.
Recently they found a huge NUT lying in the SNOW and it was just tooooo irresistable to leave it there, so they took it home and made it a centrepiece on the tribal recruiting wall.
Given that there seems to be so many strings attached to things in K24 you have to ask yourself if this - will be a good thing in the long run?
Why would you find a big NUT just lying around? Is it somehow diseased? Will some horrible worm emerge from it and eat the tribe from the inside? Is it an alien homing beacon? Will the discarded nut collectors come to collect it, and if you are standing too close will you get swept up in the huge machine that is designed to crush the husks and liquify the body into mush?
Anyway ... back to Snow....
Its curious that some of the founding members are now in different tribes, was there a coup, a falling out or was the burden of leadership too much and so they stepped back ... and out the back door into other tribes?
Nonetheless, under the present leadership this tribe knows how to noble live players so if they move more into K24, it will be a test about whether player nobling is more effective than barb nobling. I think I know where I'll place my bets...
It does seem that K24 might be a future battle ground with a number of tribes which have dominant positions in surrounding K's starting to drift into the undominated space. Eventually these bigger tribes are going to share borders in K24 and then all of the barb nobling tribes in the top spots at the moment will be squeezed out and just represent collateral damage. FEAR might be the only incumbent that can negotiate a favourable outcome or present a credible opposition.[/spoil]
NUTS
[spoil]Its pretty hard not to mention a tribe this big that turns up near the top ranking of a continent that is not theirs .... yet.
I will not do a complete analysis as you can read that elsewhere. I'll just summarise that they are able to enter K24 from the south just like SNOW can enter from the West. Given that NUTS also have a lot of LMAO players to eat in K34 (if they want) any feeding frenzy in K34 might indicate their intentions for K24. If nothing else, they might not want SNOW to have control of K23 and K24 and be sitting that close.
So far, its seems pretty quiet.....[/spoil]
Oh, what happened to the previous leading tribes?
[spoil]Angels - Gone
GLOBE - Gone, although I think there was a Snow Globe at one stage, so I guess we know where some of the ex-members might be.
_@oW_ - Gone
H.i.T - 11 widely scattered members
T.T.F - Gone
Along the way there have been various splinter tribes and mergers and factions - ~TUL~, 001, Snow Globe ... it sort of reads like a cold war era spy drama, or a monty python sketch about the people's popular front of judea .... splitters!
I think that the oh so smug puppet masters in K24 might find themselves busking for change on the rim, rather than strutting their stuff on the broadway size stage that they imagine K24 to be. One domineering leadership type has already departed this world.[/spoil]
