This is not something we can handle from world-setting feedback, I'm afraid. Could you maybe consider making a discussion thread or improvement suggestion with your suggested changes and we can take a look?

What ever happend to the barbarian attack early game ? Lol how's this for an idea any villa that has not been attacked by a player for three weeks gets attacked by a random barb

You mean for the quest? The quest to send your troops outside the village is still there, it is just slightly different these days. Being 'attacked' by the barb is no longer necessary for the completion.
