i am a pretty serious musician in high school. i know a bit about musical complexity. changing time signatures is not that complex. especially if the signature isnt complex. modal changes, chord progressions, and layers are more complex. this is why musicians like Bach.i can see why lyrics can play a part in why people like modern music, but most of the lyrics dont make sense and/or are demeaning/racist/hateful. one thing i dont like about tool is that it sounds like acid trip music and has no direction. the music videos for tool just make me wonder what kind of drugs they were on.
For the record. some of my favorite songs (not completely instrumental) are: september (Earth, wind and Fire), Love you Save (Jackson 5), You Can Call Me Al (Paul Simon), and some other MJ songs.
My favorite instrumental songs are: Kyrie (Mozart: Requiem #2), Sequentia, Dies Irae (Mozart: Requiem #3), Symphony #9 In D Minor- 2. Molto Vivace (Beethoven), and almost anything from the band "Swåp" (Hardanger fiddles own)
Many musicians are on drugs lol, nothing new
