I felt compelled to post this since the conversation went on in many different places at once.
Norse is gone, even though the tribe still has quite a few members. It should be pretty obvious from the tribal file, if not for our greatly diminished PNP presence. Even though it is amusing reading all the PNP on these forums and I don't want to downplay Nights excellent operation against Norse, nearly everyone of "us" has quit.
It probably started around October last year. At first it was hardly noticeable. Remember we had an average of 2-3 people per account, and an active Skype room with about 75 people. Key people started dropping out. Dave for instance- The figurehead of Two Nerds One Account. Mike (?) and Jack - the latter being my own co-player who went off to finish HP as the number one account. It was hardly noticeable at first, as no one went out with a bang.
Around Nov-December we lost our duke - who had been the driving force behind Norse and who probably spent a few hours each day just stopping people from bashing each others head in. Real life circumstances meant he had to focus on what really mattered to him and knowing his situation I can only applaud the way he took responsibility where it was needed. However, it meant Norse now lacked the leadership. There was no management of many things, including sitting and secrets, and the players who stepped up in his place simply did not command the same respect from the veterans who were now quitting a much higher pace.
A couple of new faces were brought in, but it seems experience was an issue for some if activity wasn't. People started formulating plans to leave with a bang - the most interesting is perhaps the idea of having a "Norse fantasy league" which was more or less dissolving Norse and having us fight each other for shits and giggles. Not entirely sure what became of this, but this is what Mintcream posted about as a peace offer from Norse in early Jan.
Two weeks into January I got a great career offer, and decided to drop off the planet as well. I entered my own account - with countless hours invested into it - and set someone as sitter fully aware they would not be able to cope with it being dumped on them. This I feel sorry for. I was not under attack, and my area was quiet, but it's not something I liked doing to someone. It's like getting a puppy, and sending it to a stranger's house after two years. Except I didn't have a puppy. I had a horse.
Early February we came together and the ones left could be counted on one hand. We shared memories. We laughed. We mourned. We mused ourselves with what could have been, but the overwhelming feeling was that none of us really wanted to step up and put in the time. Our Skype room participants count was already halved while the amount of accounts in Norse had stayed the same. It was the end.
Norse was not a bad tribe. It's a shame it had to go this way but none of us felt like dragging it on for months just to prove some point.
I'm expecting to get flamed to bits. There's no Norse PNP presence so nearly everyone here will be Night or consorts. Still, I'd like to invite everyone to discuss the topic.
