http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermopylae#Greeks_and_Persians

There you go. The Battle of Thermopylae is quite possibly the most famous battle in which a small army holds off an extremely superior (numberwise) attacking force. If you still doubt, I can find you thousands of other sources describing the true battle
======================================

"a small army holds off an extremely superior (numberwise) attacking force."

Key statement there. 'Holds Off'. Not victorious. Just... 'Holds off'.

Correct me if I'm wrong though, but weren't the Greeks still victorious in the end? :icon_wink:

You are right. Athens naval power was victorious at Salamis; not Sparta. Different city-state; different 'Tribe'.

Ahh yes, now we have RB vulturing. Perhaps their leaders will be as thoughtful and as understanding as the Aten leaders. Perhaps not...

Athenians = Greek
Spartans = Greek

XiG = XiG
XiG.2 = XiG

You see my point?

or we can just compare it to the world wars

xig = germany
esl = w/e ally germany had in both wars.

vs the alliance = usa, britain, umm france, etc...

Well, even though I thought we had ended all of the XiG - Nazi comparisons, I'll play your little game.

Axis vs. Poland - Lasted a month

Axis vs. France - Lasted just over a month

Axis vs. Britain - Barely a contest if the Nazi's hadn't turned to Russia

Axis vs. US - US is the only reason all of Europe doesn't speak German.

In other words, poor comparison, because that basically admits that XiG is superior to every tribe in the alliance. Who is your USA? I doubt that Aten will step into the role.

Also, if XiG is Germany, that would make ESL a combination of Italy and Japan.

Hmmm, if I remember correctly, didn't Japan invade and conquer a fair portion of China, which is about, 100 times larger at least? Didn't Japan also carry out one of the most lopsided strikes of the war, at Pearl Harbor, which brought Europe's saviours, the USA into the war? I assume the "alliance" is sitting there praying that their Pearl Harbor happens soon, so that their version of the US enters the war and saves the day.

lol, how about we just quit all this comparison thing with world war in RL, and battles of ancient history, and just say it how it REALLY is...

its xig/esl vs alliance, no need for unrealistic comparisons to super battles that will never happen.

I don't like to compare with the real world but if we will do that.

1 sep 1939: German attacked Poland without any decleration of war = FTR attacking XiG.
3 sep 1939: UK/France and some more declare war on Germany despite in fact beeing in war when one allied country is beeing attacked = XiG declare war on Germany

Germany = FTR
Italy and other German puppy = TW, StW, RUM, HOT and all other part of the axis

UK and the allied = XiG and ESL

You began the comparisons my friend, I simply showed you the need for research before comparisons are made.

Also, "super battles that will never happen"? All of those I mentioned are true and can be found quite easily.
