It seems very unlikely villagers would have so much light coming from inside their houses

a) more likely fires would have been outside
b) it could reveal to enemies your position at night

Not realistic at all =D

A) You have the fire to keep warm, you dont get warm if you are outside

B) Its uhm a village with walls, Are you dumb? Its 100% realistic

The light is way too bright, a small fire inside from a stone fireplace would not be that bright
