I'd be inclined to agree with you, but when the first guide given as an example is this one:

You lose some hope.

Ha! Haven't read it all tbh, but I do remember reading through some of it a few years ago while I was turtling on w6, gave a different perspective on the game.

Come to think of it, it had some unconventional methods that I neither tried nor thought were all that well thought out, and is quite a bit outdated concerning certain new details in the gameplay, but correct me if I'm wrong, it could help a new player out somewhat.

Activity > skill when it comes to (farming) worlds.

The extra res gained from regular farming can often overcome a skilled but semi-active player in your area.
I'm not sure where this illusion of TW being a skill-based game comes from, as a little 'knowledge' goes a long way, and after that, it's just down to activity.
I can't out farm you if I'm not active. I can't backtime you if I'm not online to do so. I can't snipe if not online in time to do so, etc.

/Rocket Science.
