Had a small accident this past week, I'll just say be sure to watch your fingers when working under the hood of your car.
This is what happens when you get your finger hit by a timing belt, and i consider myself lucky it did not take my whole finger off. Don't really remember exctally how it happened, but it just takes one moment to be a tad bit careless and things like this happen. Hard to drive a stick now. Spent the whole week being agurvated cause i know better than to be careless and people kept saying "don't you know not to stick your hand there" It just takes 1 second, but i already knew but i think the huge bandage on my pinky says i know not to put my hand there now. Threw my timing off by 2 or 3 notches.

Eek :icon_eek:

When I first saw that piccy I cried a little, threw up a little, then I went out for a snack. Just kidding! I haven't eatten since :-[

Then I opened it again the other day and it all came back to me :icon_sad: ...but then I googled-imaged timing belt and I was kind of confused... then I had someone explain how you could get your finger chopped off with one of those and cried a little more!

Anyways, my point is... did you cry?!?! :icon_eek:
I'm glad you didn't get your finger chopped off...
...Are you ever going to have nail again?

Well it happened and I didn't think it was that bad, so I went inside and washed it off and saw how bad it really was. So I got a towel, wrapped up my hand, got in my car and drove 30 mins to the hospital. Was hard because my car is a stick, so had to steer with my knee and shift with my left hand. Got there and they numbed it up, cleaned it up and wrapped it and sent me home and said to see a hand specialist the next day, instead I went to work and worked 16 hours, than took the next day off and went to a different, better, hospital. They took me in and took x-rays, alot of skin was gone and the bone was sticking out on the end. So they decided it was better to cut the bone off a little, because if you leave it out in the open the risk of the bone getting infected is much greater. And with all the skin and tendons being gone you can't do a skin graft. Infections in the bone don't show up right away, so it's a great risk leaving it. If the bone gets infected than they have to take the whole finger off. So cutting a little bit so it would be below the skin was kinda the best option. I was fine, they stuck me with about 8 needles of Novocain, once they started pulling the skin from the bone, man talk about pain! Than they started cutting the bone, makes me look at people that lost any kinda limbs a whole different way. They say there is nothing about you being able to feel the bone. I did great till I got home and the though of the end of my finger gone and never coming back, the pain and wondering how much it will cost, seeing as I don't have insurance, just really overwhelmed me and I got to my sisters house and sat down, put my head down and she asked if I was ok, and couldn't help it, started crying. Try to sleep and start having dreams they are still cutting it, feels like I have a constant hang nail, even though there is no nail. They say there is maby like a 5% chance i will get a nail back, but it will look weird.
When I look at were it happened, I still wonder myself how it didn't take my finger off, but I am very thankful it did not for sure.

I'd still be crying. And I'd prolly get all emo and stuff. I admire your strength and ... ahh my shrinking vocabulary >.< stoopid telli! .... optimism (for a lack of a better work :icon_sad:) very much.

Ohh can we see a recovery piccy in the future pl0x?
