Password hacking

I read the forum rules for this section and I couldn't see anything mentioned about this particular topic.

Ok this is my situation: My parents have passworded the main computer and keep disconnecting the internet when ever they feel like it, so I can't gain access to the internet OR the computer which is incredibly annoying when I need to buy something off ebay or another online shop, and I have to keep asking them to log-in to the computer because it logs off when the screensaver goes on.
Does anyone know how to hack or get round the password?

Now, I didn't say this...

Password hacking is much harder than exploiting loopholes in the system. Creating an account with full admin powers while you are on their sign in is the easiest way. Full admin can unlock the comp, even when it's locked by another full admin.

For password hacking, you either have to create your own program, or buy one. It's not cheap to buy one, and the programming is relatively elementary. However, if you can't get on the comp to access it, it requires inserting a link to a portable hard drive, where the program is set to automatically decrypt the p/w. That's a bit harder.

I tried that, the bit in bold, but my step-dad also found out I created another account and he deleted it with no hassle, I can't delete the main account either because it has all my parents photos/music/websites etc. on it.
So basically...I'm screwed?

does the comp alert them to failed password attempts?
if not you should start trying passwords such as they're aniversary, their boss, their home towns.

The only thing i know about the password is that it begins with 'im' (i think), I'll check their 'ebay book' to see if the pass is in there
