Not all wins are equal.
One difference is beyond our individual control. A win in the highly hyped W100 has the potential for much greater respect than a less competitive world.
The other difference is entirely within our individual control, its how we achieve success. Do we take the Malcolm X approach? Any Means Necessary! Do we set boundaries we do not cross?
Respect is a commodity, it is a resource, no different than iron/wood/clay/time. It serves valuable functions.
Examples...
Recruitment. If many players respect you, its easier to recruit mates and you have a better pool to choose from.
Diplomacy. If many players respect you, they are more likely to have diplomacy with you.
etc.
Being a resource, we will basically acquire respect through various means, lose it by others, regardless if we win or lose the world.
Winning W96 will bring a certain amount of respect, based off a combination of the 2 elements mentioned, the first being beyond our control, the second entirely within it.
Respect in TW can basically be acquired through 2 avenues. Character & Gameplay, they are the Pits and Farming of respect. As with PP, there is that 3rd option, you could simply buy it. You can invest more PP than anybody so you have the best stats regardless of Character or Gameplay. You can invest PP in others as well, which purchases more respect than investing it in yourself.
PP boosting gets you a top rank, which gets you respect, but the amount of respect is greatly diminished than if you did it with Character and/or Gameplay instead. Whereas gifting people PP earns you respect, despite the fact you're still really straight up purchasing it, rather than earning it.
Character aspects that will earn you respect are elementary, honesty, loyalty, intelligence, charisma, etc.
Those that cause you to lose respect are equally elementary, dishonesty, disloyalty, stupidity, abrasiveness, etc.
The Gameplay aspects are not character based, its Sexy Vs. Ugly!
Because its not character based, its less obvious, but there is a general consensus within the community of what is Sexy and what is Ugly in terms of Gameplay.
Ugly is...
hugging (mass-diplomacy) & mass-recuiting (thus family tribes which combine the 2), excessive internalling, barb-nobling, etc.
Of these many examples, none has anything to do with Character, in fact they are a bit counter-intuitive tbh.
If you hug, mass-recruit, only internal and barb noble, you might be the nicest guy in W96, have the greatest Character, yet your Character alone will be respected, your Gameplay will be ridiculed.
Other examples of Ugly are obviously character based, thus more obvious...
cheating, betraying agreements, attacking mates, etc.
Sexy is sometimes Character based...
honoring agreements, supporting mates, etc.
Sexy is sometimes exactly counter-Character
recruiting LESS than other tribes, having LESS diplomacy than other tribes, nobling active players
(as long as they're not your mate through tribe or diplomacy)
All that being said, I do not believe I have posted any opinion yet, I believe (so far) this is virtually universal consensus?
Discussion can, perhaps, help us identify more examples that should be listed?
If we wish to see Sexy not Ugly, we should outline what constitutes each?
Also, up for discussion is this opinion...
New players should be held to lower standards? Seems natural doesn't it? If new players form a family, mass-recruit, hug, even betray their agreements, whatever, THEY should be the ones taking the Malcom X approach?
If there is a premade in W96 where every member has already won at least 1 world, THEY should play Sexy?
I'd like to claim that I'm bringing Sexy to W96, but I'm transparent, I'm here to hone PP skills and produce PP.
I will not be the example, I will hug as much as I can tbh (I will honor our agreements, however), I will remain basically neutral in general, I will try to give as many people who are playing this world for real, the chance to do so, I will even help many of them.
I have a thread in the premade forums explaining my ingame plans...

I will be a forum presence (at least till W98). As such, I will try to chronicle this world. I will call out examples of heroics and villainy, Sexy and Ugly, and I will try to encourage somebody to take my place in these forums by the time W98 starts.
