Smurf accounts question

Since an admin simply deleted my other thread i'll ask the question here and see if I have any better luck.

It's become obvious that robac players are abusing the system by creating fake accounts in other worlds so that they can post onthe w1 prop forum under fake names. Aside from the fact that this is hopelessly cowardly it really goes against te spirit of the game and of forum ettiquette in general.

If you are going to post in the forum and mouth off there should be consequences available. If you are going to insult others and mouth off then your strong play should be able to back it up.

I would like to see this problem dealt with. One possible way would be to restrict posting to the sections the account is registered to. For instance a world 5 account would only eb able to post on the world 5 and general areas of the forum. This means only registered wolrd 1 players would be able to participate in world 1 discussion, which honestly makes sense anyway.

Sorry but forum ettiquette from a TW player, don't make me laugh.

I see no place in the rules which states that using a different name on the forum is not allowed, so I feel this is nonsense. If there was, I would give up this account but I don't see how this is such a serious issue.

Before I say anything else, I have great respect for TW so I am not saying this out of dislike. Is there any "real" evidence RoBaC is doing this?

As long as the 2nd account isn't used for breaching the (forum)rules, I don't see much of a problem with so called "smurf-accounts". Of course, as extra motivation to not break the forumrules, maybe an extra clause in the rules with :

if a player with multiple accounts is caught breaking the (forum)rules, an account ban can be issued for all his accounts, for the forum and for the game.

Indirectly, above clause is already mentioned in the rules. But it does add some extra clarification, as well some extra motivation not to create accounts to break the rules.

I would prefer:

"If a player has more than one forum account and gets caught then it is considered bannable offence"

So players who create a new identity on another world (lots of players have done this, most noteable Saphire on W2) they will get banned because they have 2 forum accounts.

I do not post in W1 P&P with 2 accounts. Any admin can check if they really feel the urge too, so I see NO rule which I am breaking.

That is silly, not to mention difficult to do unless someone went through all the accounts, allowing them acces as soon as they joined another world.

what a rubbish idea,
i would still like my right to post in the W2 forum even though i dont play in it
i still post sometimes as im intrested in whats happening

u guys critisize them for not posting, then for posting?
u guys keep going on about having fun on the forums but all iv seen is RoBAC players getting shouted down whenever they post
now they create new account to have fun u guys start complaining?
i think u guys may have brought this on urselves and dont forget whos propoganda brought these bears round to this forum

I just tried to make a 2nd account here and it didn't let me, so maybe the changes worked.

Why not criticize them when they're too afraid to use their real account and they taunt from an anonymous persona?

Its also real cool that the admins USED to say that creating an extra account for forum usage will lead to the banning of that account. The carebear participating in this thread is a prime example. His points have not changed since the creation of the account, yet no action is taken. The carebear accounts are also all world 2-6 accounts yet they all talk primarily about world 1 occurrences.

The whole situation is a joke and it just further exemplifies the blind eye that the staff turn to against certain privileged tribes.

P.S. The REAL reason for the abundance of carebears is due to the fact that many RoBAC members are not played by the original account holders. The forum passwords attached to these accounts were not the same and therefore in game identities do not match up with the names that are used here on the forums.

That's exactly what I was going to say.
This may be a paid for server and version of... vbulletin I think.

But I don't think there is anything they could do like that without really rewriting the upgrade thing like where you can set a member to become a higher group at a certain amount of posts and interlinking it with the registration logs of the game.

In other words, would you rather have improvements in the game, or your idea..?

I hope all my information is accurate as I'm slightly drunk and it's half past midnight.
