I think perhaps the best way not to end up in the center of the world, is avoiding the pre-registration. When you pre-register to a world, that means that the account will start and spawn the village(s) when the world starts; this means the system will try to place the village as close to the center core as possible. So if you pre-register to the world, you should end up as close to the center as possible. Starting up with out the pre-reg might set you back a couple of minutes but it should also mean that your village would spawn after the initial wave and get positioned a bit further out.
I'm not sure I should even leave this message here, because of the advice on starting more villages if you end up in the wrong spot, that's technically advertising cheating and as such it isn't allowed. Due to some recent events, I decided on a different approach, and instead use this as an opportunity to clarify instead:
Our rules are clear, this is both multi accounting and illegal account switches. Do not start several accounts expecting to not get punished for it.
It's very simple; if you don't intend to play the world on the account - don't start it.
