The Earth Is Not Moving; DEFINITIVE PROOF

You're very sarcastic, but you have not looked at modern literature or interpretations. Everything that is said can be looked at in different contexts. And if you want to go into it, you can look at the fact that early scientists stated that it was indeed possible to turn lead to gold.

Just because you're bitter and predisposed to see religion in a bad light, doesn't make you right.

Epic fail on your part for only showing one side. Both sides have ignorances and mistakes, your insistence that science is almighty is fail.
This is serious now.

Understand, I'm a Christian. I'm not atheistic, I do believe in the Bible and whatnot.

However, when I came across the site I linked to in the first paragraph, I had to say something. Stupid extremists make any position look bad. These ones make Christianity and religion in general look stupid, and just provide fodder for those who are bitter towards religion. People like Richard Dawkins and his crowd just make atheism and agnosticism intolerant and ignorant, as well. People who scream and swear at their Congressmen about socialism when they have no idea what the word actually means make those who have rational arguments against the proposed health care plan look like belligerent hatemongers; those who scream that all conservatives are ignorant, ignoring the facts, or hicks make those liberals who have well-founded reasons for their beliefs look like arrogant bigots.

There's a famous Latin axiom: abusus non tollit usum. Abuse does not inhibit use. The twistings and bastardizations of a position by extremists on any issue should not lead us to assume that everyone who stands on that side of the aisle is stupid or thinks in such a close-minded way.

Understand, my purpose in posting this was not to display the hypocrisy of religion. Instead, I'm simply trying to point out that rationality should always be our tool to truth, and that open-mindedness, tolerance, and compromise should be our goals.

Carbon dating is your friend. Dude, their are fossilized trees older than 6000 years, not to mention the many layers of the earths crust which date back some millions of years.

And to whom mentioned science stuff is written in a book as well. This is true, but science also has and does one thing 'faith' does not, it backs up it's findings in a lab. I believe in gravity because I can see it working.

Ok, ok...you need to watch more discovery and science channels...that'll set you straight.

Under all the skepticism and false beliefs, I just can't imagine we are all living like we are today and suffering as some would say because some guy named adam and this chick named eve ate an apple. :icon_rolleyes::icon_rolleyes::icon_rolleyes:

To think that if we really had a devine power in that of a god, and we could all be living harmoniously right now, if the almighty himself would show himself onto us...

But noooooo, we gotta do things the hard way, we have to have faith in something no one knows is real, and no one will ever be able to prove.

Then again, the world is over in 2012 right...according to the mayans...

My friend, it's people like you that this post stands in bitter opposition to. You're unwilling to see it, but you're just as bad as someone who would say the things I said in the OP.

I can only hope that some day your eyes truly will be opened.

Oh, good.

Well then, the first step is to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

though i must admit the theories you presented are rather... weird. for lack of a better word.

I still don't see why that's not just as good evidence as any (if you think long and hard)

i am a christian in the sense that i am Confirmed, and thereby baptised in the name of the lord jesus christ, that my belief is vaining and more and more ceasing to exist, is another fact.

Though i DO in cases, and yes i said in cases, making it an assumption by myself, that when i occasionally choose to direct my thougts upwards, i am a believer, though not among the most believing believers.

That i reason with the fact i can see the esense in other religions too, and i can also the see the sense in atheism (that's hard).

Some theories are too crazy, and some are not.

i like cheese

I don't claim that science is always right. However, the evidence it often presents is indisputable.

Indisputable? It was indisputable in the 10th century that alchemy was a valid form of science. Up until recently (around the 1950's, I believe) it was indisputable that it was impossible for creatures to survive certain heats, or live in certain chemicals. There is much that was "indisputable" that has been proven false.

And Mandos... showing only religious extremists gives rise to the belief that you believe there aren't extremists on both sides, nor errors in both sides reasoning.

My apologies. Expect a post about radical atheists next week.

That is my point. Science changes with the times, in fact, it looks for things to prove it wrong so that it may be right. I do not believe that there needs to be a God for this universe to exist. I do not want a God to exist if this is His creation. I would like to save him the embarrassment. I also believe that religion has held us back in the recent past and blinds a few so much they begin to ignore their humanity. That worries me.

What kind of crack have you been smoking homey? The Earth doesn't rotate you say? Hmmm...:icon_rolleyes:

First thing's first...you can't call your 'faith' definitive proof. The bible isn't 'proof' of anything.

Science, however, has proven many things, such as: Space is a vacuum...thing's inside of a vacuum have nothing (no force or friction) to stop or start them. The planets spin from the collapse of a supernova.

Probably would have to have an astronauts opinion on this, or rather their eyewitness 'proof': throw something in space and it keeps going and going and going, no stopping until it hits something. This is why the earth rotates, according to science. The leftover energy from the supernova collapsing.

Of course, no one alive today was around for any of that, so it is technically heresay of some form, as is your bible.

Im assuming since the earth is stationary and doesnt move, then plate tectonics don't exist and the continents have never broken off from pangea, and havent moved ever and will never re-collide with each other; even though science proves they do exist, they have caused pangea to split, eventually forming the continents we have today and will eventually cause them to reunite again.

Riiiggghhhttt Scott...

Lay off the bong pipe yo.

Supernovas do not collapse, they are the result of a star collapsing, and then expanding at an extraordinary rate.

The spin of the planets is due in part to the effects of gravity from other planets, or worldly bodies. Our planet has it's day and night times because of the pull from our moon, for the most part, if not we would most likely be like Venus, which has an extremely long day.

And yes, things inside of a vacuum do have forces working on them. gravity, for instance. Magnetism to a point. Several other forces play a part, as well. They simply have no friction once they break away and enter the empty part of space.
