Who are the great players? [borrowed from W14]

Winning - ''gaining, resulting in, or relating to victory in a contest or competition''

If I define the contest as the race to 10K (which is a milestone, so you might be more comfortable with it). Then I can win at that stage.

''I won the race to 10K'' I feel like this is a statement I could make. I can't say, I won this world however.

Now, you might not be part of that race. Hell, you might not even be on the world at that stage. But I was there first, I got that milestone (which is the same as winning pp, in that it is a 'prize') so I can consider it that I won.

Secondly, the difference between this, and those examples you list Garrock. Is this has no real life rewards.

There is no recognition, no money.

You are rewarded with PP, which means nothing.

My point is, you gain absolutely nothing from winning a world. Added to the fact this is a game. Means you can set your own definitions of what it is.

Perhaps, if I change the word from winning, to success. You will agree.

I would actually argue that we are all losing, because we are all wasting our lives. But hey...

EDIT: Garrock, you actual give me a perfect example of this in your post. A football knockout competition. You might not end up winning the final. Winning the cup. But you could win your first round, or win the preliminary group stage.

Added to that. A player wins best player. A player wins the Golden Boot (top scorer). These players won something, in this competition, but they might not have actually ended up on the 1st placed team.

Back on topic. I see a lot of co-played accounts being mentioned. Nothing wrong with co-playing ofcourse. But the players on these accounts fluctuate. I know some of the account being mentioned that have these players for this world, another set of co-players for another. So, I am assuming when they are mentioned they mean the main player (email holder). :^)

Winning is not defined by the rewards of doing so, just because all you win is PP does not mean that you didn't win. And to some extent there is actually recognition.

Also real life winning high school championship, regional, a music competition, a chess tournament, all winning however not much recognition or financial reward,.

There are extremely well paid soccer players for example that never actually play for the first team, never win anything.

Your examples are like saying I beat you in one game so i am better even when said team goes on to win the championship.

The discussions we were having have nothing to do with saying player A was better than player B. It was about what defines winning.

Also, I disagree about winning things in RL. In RL, on your college application, you can say, I won my schools tennis competition. Which can have a positive effect on your chances to get into that college, as they will want rounded individuals. The college might even want you for their own team.

The difference when it comes to tribal wars is. Saying I won W85 means nothing to anyone outside of those involved in this game.

But anyway, our posts were already off-topic. Stop dragging our off-topic discussion even more off-topic, by sidetracking it.

Edit. Your point about soccer players is void. That isn't prize money they are earning. It is a wage. Completely different things.

thats a tough one, have known alot of players over the nearly 10 years i have been playing.

early game i go for people like:

Nauz
Crimsoni
I am alone

Late worlds:
Randora
Eye of the tiger
wakeling
these to me are friends but also players i rate highly, of course with alot of years we see alot of good players and even more bad players, some make good leaders, some not so much.

Another few i forgot to add is The Scientist, shagan888 and nutcrackerz.

voidemon = not even close
Navro = was one of my early TW mentors (different name then). I see he is still floating around but does not play with the same voracity as he once did (and neither do I). In his early days I count him among the better TW players of all time.

Aah well, what is truly great? Where do you draw the line between great and truly great?
4 nerds, Garrock, and Hurod for example could be called truly great.
I am sure there iz more here, some hiding under a new nick or co-playing on a different account.

One player has impressed me with Their skill and another one with their leadership, otherwise i feel like all of the people are either overrated(if they are talked up) or people have simply forgotten what true skill looks like.

Its hard comparing players now to players from worlds pre 40 ish, as players back then didnt have a coplayer or if they did they were like a silent partner who just farmed or something along those lines. Where as now half of the top 5 accounts have shifts for each of the 5 different players on the account. Comparing one mans accomplishments to the "skills" of 5 people working together under one name is very, very different. I find it hard to call anyone truly great when they dont even play their account half the time, but mind you that is probably because ive rarely had a coplayer since 2010 lol.

Whats is this bashing on voidemon? On w81 he did quite great stuff. I saw him playing on this world too and he got rimmed by rabid but that doesn't really unachieve his actions :)
