I agree, the game is more fun when more people are playing the world, means more tribes, more interaction and more wars..but unfortunately to many people left leaving just the few that are left.

see? the blame is not on settings, its just most of the people have not anticipated how slow the time frames are, it sure looks alluring outright but the experience is quite different, its something most of people did not anticipate so boredome seeped in quicly in them, while some others found solace and comfort in maintaining in such conditions, and im sure there are more who would enjoy these settings, but that will have to wait in the future.

I don't think it is the speed that has been the problem. I think the problem is that it is too easy to internalize another player because of flat rate nobles. It lets an inactive tribe thrive but getting huge players and recruiting to fill those spots
