Lol, impossible. No tribe can survive without diplomacy. Diplomacy is key. Even the rank #1 tribe needs some diplomacy. Sure, you can be restrictive, but having no diplomacy does not make you elite, it makes you incompetent.
By your classification therefore, there are no such things as elite tribes.
And on the topic of families, its just a stigma associated with them. Ppl feel threatened by the overwhelming numbers that a family possesses compared to a single tribe, hence why families are unpopular. Its not cause they are bad, its because (assuming the family functions as well as any good tribe) they are TOO good. If you have 10 equally skilled players versus 20 equally skilled players, who wins? The one with more numbers. Hence, families have an advantage. You've just got to filter the noobs out of a family though. And when I say noobs, I mean incompetent players, not ppl who are considered militarily weak (some of the best leaders in W14 had around 60K points only :icon_eek

unfortunatley you have picked up on the problem, the main reason for most family failing is because they recruited players who when It comes down to it, wont kill the guy sitting next to them. Thats why elite tribes usally have a low number of members, because truly it is not easy to find people who will throw everything into the fighting! Familys are just a massive extension of normal tribes, but it ends up being that there are more players feeding off the good players, so much so that the family goes to war with a normal tribe 1/4 of their size, who walks all over there inactives and feeder players, so by the time they reach the average players, there three times the size of them and the actaull fighters can't withstand them.
There are always good players in families, there are usally good leaders, but a good leader can only lead those willing to do as he/she commands! So the main reason families don't work, is because you get players that don't have the balls to attack a point whore twice their size!
