=X had a cause
most tribes do not have a cause
causes divide people, but they also unify people, both in deep ways at times
thus, i am hated by some, loved by others, i inspire both extremes
duh :icon_rolleyes:
we tried making this premade with different leadership at start up, but it did not work, the tribe was not true to our cause
i had been asked to lead that premade, but refused
when it did not work, i agreed to start a premade in a future world, but i would only lead for 2 months
our premade thread had thousands of views, our premade had over a hundred applicants, the majority of which were very competent players
but we had 2 things drawing applicants...
1. our cause
2. the promise of a promising tribe
many players, some very famous ones, were interested in joining us, not because of our cause, but because of our promise
those players were not invited to the premade
we began with about 18 mates on 15 accounts spread across 5 k's
we were so impressive in each of the areas where we started that we became the tribe to be
and again we had tons of applicants, the majority of which were very competent players, yet many were drawn by our promise, not our cause
regrettably, it can be hard to distinguish between the 2 when those who could care less about our cause lie to us because of our promise and their desire to be part of that
those who were inspired to join with us because of our success understood we had no diplomacy, we did not mass-recruit, we did not cheat, we did not lie to the leaders of other tribes, yet we had a chance to win
that was all i could do, give them something to believe in, we could do this, yes
i could not make them support our cause, i could not make them have faith
i could give them something to have faith in and give them a chance to be part of it
[spoil][1/3/2012 10:04:29 PM] Sam: I am guessing not everyone in =X joined because they agreed with you and Shah
[1/3/2012 10:04:44 PM] Sam: more likely they thought you looked like a good tribe[/spoil]
wickerman understood what we were about when he merged ODA with =X
we agreed to take a poll for the tribe name, the results would take effect when i stepped down at the new year and appointed new leadership
so we would have new leadership and a new identity
the one thing that would remain was our publicly posted policy which wickerman agreed to uphold
his co did not agree, he joined the account later and had no reason to have faith as he was not around at our start up
[spoil][1/3/2012 8:33:30 PM] al haji rasul al masiha: shahz and i share a common cause
[1/3/2012 8:33:40 PM] al haji rasul al masiha: we are brothers in belief
[1/3/2012 8:33:43 PM] Sam: I know
[1/3/2012 8:33:48 PM] Sam: I don't fully share your belief
[1/3/2012 8:34:02 PM] Sam: I can see the point of it
[1/3/2012 8:34:10 PM] Sam: but the world isn't like that unfortunately
[1/3/2012 8:34:14 PM] Sam: and neither is tribalwars
[1/3/2012 8:34:29 PM] Sam: It is nice to see someone who wanted to try for an ideal though
[1/3/2012 8:34:32 PM] Sam: I do respect that
[1/3/2012 8:34:55 PM] Sam: maybe we disagree because we have a different world view [/spoil]
myself, i think he had never read our tribe profile, cause the people listed did win, though yes, it required great sacrifice...
[spoil][1/3/2012 8:35:41 PM] al haji rasul al masiha: where you come from plays a huge part
[1/3/2012 8:35:56 PM] al haji rasul al masiha: but before i continue, i would remind you of our tribal profile
[1/3/2012 8:36:09 PM] Sam: your tribal profile
[1/3/2012 8:36:16 PM] al haji rasul al masiha: In TW, as in the real world, the masses say...
"Nice guys finish last."
"The good guys never win."
"The righteous never prosper."
=X salutes the very real individuals who have proved these lies (so sacred to the weak) to be exactly that, LIES!
Martin Luther King Jr.
Mohandas Gandhi
Nelson Mandela
Not only did these heros to the entire world win, they did so honorably.
They are indisputably amongst the greatest personages and the most influential personalities the real world has ever witnessed.
[1/3/2012 8:36:56 PM] al haji rasul al masiha: who is more influential? hitler or jesus?
[1/3/2012 8:37:03 PM] al haji rasul al masiha: stalin or mandela?
[1/3/2012 8:37:09 PM] Sam: And they were arrested and shot for what they believed
[1/3/2012 8:37:13 PM] Sam: they are incredible characters
[1/3/2012 8:37:16 PM] al haji rasul al masiha: alexander or mlk?
[1/3/2012 8:37:18 PM] Sam: and they did achieve their goals
[1/3/2012 8:37:23 PM] Sam: but at great sacrifice
[1/3/2012 8:37:45 PM] Sam: how much of =X are you willing to sacrafice to achieve your goal?
[1/3/2012 8:37:54 PM] al haji rasul al masiha: all of it mate
[1/3/2012 8:37:56 PM] al haji rasul al masiha: every bit
[1/3/2012 8:38:03 PM] al haji rasul al masiha: that was the tribe goal
[1/3/2012 8:38:05 PM] Sam: You see I wasn't prepared to be sacrificed by you
[1/3/2012 8:38:10 PM] Sam: and it seems some people agreed
[1/3/2012 8:38:12 PM] al haji rasul al masiha: if there are people in this tribe who do not agree
[1/3/2012 8:38:17 PM] al haji rasul al masiha: why are they here?
[1/3/2012 8:38:20 PM] Sam: exactly
[1/3/2012 8:38:21 PM] al haji rasul al masiha: they are pretending to be us
[1/3/2012 8:38:23 PM] al haji rasul al masiha: but they are not us
[1/3/2012 8:38:25 PM] Sam: I think that is why you have seen a split
[1/3/2012 8:38:32 PM] al haji rasul al masiha: yes
[1/3/2012 8:38:48 PM] Sam: this is possibly a good thing for you
[1/3/2012 8:38:59 PM] al haji rasul al masiha: possibly

a tribe with a cause is a beast of a different breed
i accomplished what i set out to do
i created a tribe that could win without cheating, hugging, mass-recruiting, lying to other tribes' leaderships, betraying their agreements
they did not in fact win
mostly, that was because we were not all playing for the same thing
it had little to do with pita, not to take anything from them, they are the most impressive tribe i have seen in w59 and were the only tribe winning the war, the war itself had little to do with it
it had little to do with the remarkable foolishness of much of kp
it had little to do with shave's pnp :icon_rolleyes:
