It isn't speed that needs to be changed so much as it's the special rules for the server. The distance between players should be increased, tribes should be done away with entirely, bonuses should be removed entirely and growing abandoneds should be done away with. All of the above simply serves to promote what I've noticed in such a short time, new to this server.
The game is rigged in favor of about 3-4 tribes who remake with the same players every round. They cooperate with one another to mass-noble the abandoneds, then attack smaller, newer players. If one of them is threatened, more come to their aid. This creates a system where they impose cooperative dominance beyond the 5-member tribe limit early on and essentially amounts to nothing more than griefing. Rather than a game of skill it becomes who a game of who has the most buddies and whether or not you hold a position in those who ensure the dominance of one another every round, at the expense of newer players.
I'm sure those players will try to flame this post, but that's irrelevant. Even if they're a very vocal group of veterans for the speed rounds, they're still a minority and should have very little sway in light of the fact they're running off far more players than the server retains. The main reason they're allowed to do this is because the social niches formed in the first place and because 'restarting' simply places you on the other side of an already-developed 30k-pointer only a few hours into the game. They can rim the same smaller players over and over, each time with less effort. Morale is irrelevant when on this world a larger player has nearly-limitless resources in comparison to the restarter. The early cooperation ensures the same players are dominant again and again, every round.
It's rigged. No skill. No room for new players. Eventually the server will run out of fresh blood as it cycles through the playerbase and word of the self-destructive system spreads.
