Scouts question

I finally got my scouts earlier this morning. I was going to use them to scout barbs for spiking and to see if they have any resources left.

I sent out one to each barb around me and they all died. Do I need to send more or something? Does the pally need to go with them too?

Coming from 41 I didn't think this would happen.

depends if you're lucky... but 4 is the least you can send without losing all of them

Sending between 1 and 3 scouts results in the loss of 1 scout.

Sending 4 results in all of them surviving.

(This according to the simulator)

Luck, morale, village wall, the village's natural defense, and troops in the village(except scouts, of course) do not affect a scouting attack in any way, shape or form. Only the scout minimum and defending scouts affect the outcome.

I found out the hard way as well that scouts die when sent one at a time. What a waste of time and resources to learn that one. In no other world have I had to send more than 1 scout. I read the world settings and saw NOTHING about needing to send more than 1 either. Irritating!!!

i sent 1 scout it died.
sent 2 they died.
sent 3 they died.
sent 4 they died.
sent 5 all survived
