Capture the Crests

The tourney begins!

The season of tourneys has come, and you can now send your champions to challenge other players and capture their crests!

Event start: 11.03.15

Event end: 31.03.15

This event will be active on all standard and casual worlds.

Command your Champions

When the event starts, champions will come to your help to challenge other players. They will also bring one crest, token of your strength in the tourney. You can then decide if you want to send your champions to other players to capture their crest, or keep them home to defend the crests you currently have.

The event can be seen from a special event screen containing all the information about your champions, the crests and the rewards.
You can access it anytime from the village overview:

Capturing the crests

The main goal of the tourney is to gather crests from the other players. To do so, send your champions away and have them win honorable challenges to bring a crest back with them. If they do not succeed, you won't lose everything, as they will come back and you will then gather progress points toward an additional champion to help you be more successful in the future.
You can speed up the process as well if you need more champions.

The challenge duration is calculated between the center of your power and the nearest village of the player you want to challenge. This means challenge duration could be different between the same players.

Some crests are rarer than others, and you can spot the most valuable crest that players in your vicinity have, so plan accordingly! You will also have the possibility to lock a crest until the end of the round if you want to make it hard for other champions to capture it.

The end of a round

The tourney has multiple rounds. At the end of each round, you will be rewarded for the different crests you managed to gather. The prize will be higher if you managed to have crests of different types!

Each round will last 54 hours. At the end of a round, your crests are exchanged for prizes, and a new round starts with one crest and 3 champions.

Note: Finders, keepers will grant 1 additional crest for the next round instead of the haul capacity on no haul worlds.

Prepare your champions for glory and try to capture as many different crests as possible!

Dear players,

It came to our attention that some challenges were not handled correctly. In some cases, players participating in challenges would have been more lucky than expected, but also sometimes less lucky.

This was resolved yesterday (Thursday 12.03).

We'd like to apologize for any confusion this has caused. The event did not reach our expectations of quality. As such, all players will receive an additional 20% resource boost for 48 hours, which was granted between 17:30 and 18:00 (CET) on Friday 13.03. Additionally, we have returned a portion of the Premium Points spent on the event during the affected period as a gesture of good faith.

See you on the tournament field!

Dear players,

Thank you for your feedback so far! We've prepared some changes for the event based on what you've told us and our observations.

Challenge durations

Old system: The old challenge times were calculated based on the distance between your "center of power" (roughly speaking, the location where you had the most points) and other players' closest villages. This produced unequal challenge times between two players. Generally, a smaller player will have had a shorter challenge times to a large player than the other way around, giving the smaller player the advantage.
In some cases, this led to the smaller players being able to relatively easily and continuously win crests from larger players without the larger players being able to retaliate effectively.

New system: The new challenge times are based on the distance between the average of all a players' coordinates.
This will produce equal travel times, placing players of all sizes on equal footing when challenging each other.

Additionally, we've made it so that challenge times will no longer change within a round.

Please note that this change for challenge time means that your "Nearby players" list may change.

Reward stacking

Starting this round, limitations are now in place for how high crest-set rewards can reach.
Sets of 1, 2 and 3 crests can stack to a maximum of 10, and sets of 4, 5 and 6 crests max out at 5.

If you happen to be very successful and reach the maximum that a reward can stack, any further sets of crests that would have qualified for that set will be used for lower sets instead.

Example:
You have 11 Ravens, 11 Dragons and 11 Panthers
- Previously, this would be worth 11 sets of the 3-crest set reward called "Rally 'round the flag".
- Now, it will be worth 10 sets (the maximum) of "Rally 'round the flag", 1 set of the 2-crest set reward "Midnight Oil" and 1 set of the 1-crest set reward "Finders, keepers".

These limitations were added because we saw that the most successful players from previous rounds were acquiring higher crest-set bonuses than expected, which could potentially lead to issues with world balance.
