I think the main issue that needs to be resolved is blending; once you can start blending the focal into the background sufficiently, your pieces will start to acquire a certain finished feel to them. Now, one of the best ways to learn how to blend is to experiment, however, going through tutorials and applying techniques learned from there will also be extremely beneficial.
Try looking at a variety of tutorials showcasing a variety of different styles (but be careful not to combine contrasting styles 'cause that can be disastrous). Familiarize yourself with the methods used and apply them where appropriate.
Once you have the blending down, you can begin to focus on touches like splatters or depth creation and lighting. Keep it up though, you're on your way, already showing a lot of potential.
