Its not the infractions, its the points which count.

Make sure its an infraction and not a warning. Warnings have zero points as where infractions have points. 4 points gets you banned.

What do I have to do to MAKE SURE I get an infraction?

Do you mean how do you get an infraction, or how do you check if u have one ? First one is quite easy, and you receive a mail telling you what you got after you get infracted/warned, plus you can check under your profile.
