Dear players,
We at Tribal Wars are pleased to announce some new and exciting changes! Over the years it has become apparent that the finer game mechanics are somewhat off balanced. We recently ran a global audit to collect a large number of statistics and the results have prompted some significant changes to promote fair play.
After several meetings with some of the industry's leading experts on in-game economies and balance and we have decided to make a number of changes and modifications to our worlds. We realise that some players may find some of these changes questionable, but hope you will give them a try... we're sure you won't be disappointed!
These measures and changes will be introduced throughout today, on a world by world basis. The timetable can be found at the bottom of this announcement.
New setting to prevent ennoblement
We politely request that all players view this change from a business point of view. We're sure many would agree that the best business plan does not involve customers being able to force other customers out of the game. To solve this problem a new checkbox will appear under Settings, labeled "Disable ennoblement". This will prevent other players from being able to ennoble you, but in order to keep things balanced, will stop you from being able to noble others!
However, we feel every player should experience being rimmed at least once. The checkbox will only appear if you have previously had all your villages taken, on any world.
Tribe coordination
Please don't let us fool you, we love the idea of tribe coordination in Tribal Wars. However, we feel that it's just become too much recently. We want to game to as fair and accessible as possible for all players, so we are going to impose a limit on tribe coordination.
If you are in a tribe, you will no longer be able to attack a village in another continent if another player in your tribe is already attacking them. Please note that this will be enforced by the game engine, so you don't have to worry about breaking any rules!
Attacking vs Defending
The first change applies mostly to developed worlds. A complaint we often hear is that defenders have a huge advantage over attackers, since a village can be stacked with several thousand troops, whilst an attack is limited by a level 30 farm's maximum population of *20,000 (*see below).
To combat this we will be introducing a new global limit on the number of troops that can be in a village. The formula for this limit will be:
Troops allowed in village = village_max_population + (player_villages / 0.005517)
This means that if a player has 100 villages, a village with a level 30 farm will only be able to hold 38,126 troops.
If you send troops to a village that is full, your troops will simply disappear.
In addition to this, army camps will now allow individual armies to be merged together to create larger super armies.
Attack gap
We recently announced plans to implement a mandatory 50 milliseconds between each attack, again enforced by the game engine. The positive response to this overwhelmed us, and so we have decided to go one step further.
We don't think it's fair that factors such as internet connection, lag and slow computers should come into play in a game like Tribal Wars. To solve this, we'll be raising the attack gap to 2 seconds, ensuring that it is no longer possible to send more than 1 attack every 2 seconds. In addition to this, the travel duration for attacks will randomly fluctuate + or - 10 seconds every time you send one.
We realise that many players will be against this. However, we do have a more positive note to make about this. We will also be removing the rule that stops you from sending more than 5 attacks in a second!
Player moderation
Effective immediately, all moderators have been fired due to complaints. We'll be introducing a new system tomorrow that we feel will be completely fair and ensure there are no complaints of bias. Players will be able to make a complaint about another player from their profile. Once this has been done, the complaint will be shown to all players on the world. Each player can then vote to 'permanent ban', 'temporary ban' or 'no action'. Whichever option gets the most votes will be the action automatically taken by the game!
Wood, clay, iron, iron, IRON!
Our audit revealed one shocking imbalance in Tribal Wars, the lack of iron! So many players seem to be short of this critical resource. After an intense meeting about the issue, we've decided to immediately double the amount if iron all players have. In addition to this the production rate of Clay and Wood mines will be halved for all villages in all worlds. This should help achieve an even balance of resources and will make sure you're never short of one.
High number of attacks
The large number of attacks also shocked us. We're also fairly certain this isn't all that good for our servers. As soon as these changes go into place all players can expect to be hit with an attack limit. Each village will only be able to have 10 outgoing attacks at any time.
Unit inflation
The number of units in each world seems to be inflating like there's no tomorrow. For example, on world 47 alone the number of units has increased by 2513% alone in the last week!
We're going to divide all units by 10 to solve this. If you have less than 10 of a certain unit in a village, those units will disappear. This may affect the few village's that have less than 10 noblemen, and we're truly sorry about that. These noblemen can be rebuilt at a cheaper price from the academy.
To stop this problem from reoccurring, the population of a level 30 farm will be changed to 20,000.
---------------------------------------------------
We've also decided that a Christmas tree should appear in villages all year, to cheer players up!
Lastly, we're looking for someone with mathematics and advanced copy/paste skills to proof read future announcements. Applicants may apply via private message.
Timetable for changes:
Worlds 1-5: 09:00-10:00.
Worlds 6-10: 10:00-11:00.
Worlds 11-15: 11:00-12:00.
Worlds 16-20: 12:00-13:00.
Worlds 21-25: 13:00-14:00.
Worlds 26-30: 14:00-15:00.
Worlds 21-25: 15:00-16:00.
Worlds 26-30: 16:00-17:00.
Worlds 31-35: 17:00-18:00.
Worlds 36-40: 18:00-19:00.
Worlds 41-45: 19:00-20:00.
Worlds 46-48, speed: 20:00-21:00.
There may be a small amount of downtime per world.
We thank you all for your patience while these changes are being made, and for supporting us!
