OK, we all know that this is a German game by German developers hosted in Germany. This is also a politics forum in said game. Now, politics can encompass a great deal of things. If I were to create a new tribe and call it something like "The New Aryan Nation" with a tag of NAZIS, would that be a cause for retaliation? I understand that it is illegal in Germany to have anything to do with Nazism and any of it's political bents but would a game hosted in Germany but played by non-German, non-residents be illegal?
Now, I'm not saying that I like anything to do with Nazi Germany or anything that they did either before or during WWII. However, they were a great military power in their time and had some great military hardware and personnel. That kind of thing translates well to many games having to do with war and the execution of war. It lends itself to great battles in such games and also to great discussions. What I am looking to discuss is whether we, as humans who have descended from men who fought and died in World War II, can discuss and learn from that major historical event. Can we also use that event as a tool and resource for entertainment and not be called racists, fascist, communist, or socialist?
I have come to the conclusion that many people are too thin skinned to ever discuss many topics without getting extremely emotional and irrational. It is a shame that these same people are too often put in positions of power and responsibility. They are allowed to make decisions that effect a great many people and their lives based solely on their emotional responses and reactions.
What do you think?
