start->control panel -> fonts
just throw them in there

If you downloaded Fonts in DAFont.com, a window should pop up. Copy the Fonts that you were downloading, and go to GIMP Files.
GIMP -> Brushes -> Paste
Then just wait for a couple of minutes, and you should have that save in your GIMP. Take note that you have to RESTART GIMP whenever you are done downloading your Fonts.

LoL...I'm just trying to help him.
I seen some other Beginners asked the same question, and I helped them. So, I am just trying to do the same thing. Because when I started with GIMP, there was no one who help me.
Its just me who tried to understand everything...^_^
...,and I even tried asking the Photoshop Users...^_^

I learnt by myself :icon_redface:
All you need is to download fonts and brushes, find some cool images then play with filtering and adding.
Its a lot more fulfilling when you do it for yourself
