If you have gone through ANY wars whichi doubt you did,you would know that declaring a war doesnt slow your growth.
It either boosts it,or you lose everything.

Did I say you lost much? No, no I did not. I said it slowed you down
somewhat. 3 million ODD given from a tribe with only 800 villages slows you down
somewhat. I never said much. Yet of course, it's me who needs to learn how to read.
Declaring a war doesn't automatically boost your growth or you lose. There can be periods where it stunts your growth, and then in the end it boosts it (or you lose). I find it laughable that you think it's so simple yet you have the audacity to say that I've never been in any wars before when your simplistic view of it is, quite frankly, laughable.
Let's look at a scenario:
- War declared
- Side 1 is winning
- Side 1 then begins to lose
- Side 1 then wins
- War over
...What's that? Oh yes, in the middle of the war they started to lose, and so their growth was stunted. Hell, you don't even need to start to lose to have your growth stunted, all your enemy has to do is put up a half decent fight.
Edit: Adding in another scenario, just in case you still don't get it:
- War declared
- Side 1 launches an operation
- Side 2 defends really well, losing a few villages, retaking a few, and generally just killing a lot of nobles / nukes from Side 1
- Side 1 is now down a lot of nobles and nukes and thus cannot expand as normal
- Side 1 merges into another tribe
- Side 2 wins
- War over
...Looks an awful lot like your war with LighT. Part 3-4 would explain why it is possible to be slowed down in war. If this is the general intelligence of those who were in NUTS; I'm not surprised you couldn't last on your own.
