The story of TheTurgle...

Now, this is more of a lament, since I'm pretty angry at the way my luck and my coplayers' luck has been none to slim. After all, being players who go offensive most of the time, and ending up as top 2 for ODD. Come on!

From backtimers to small time players being "ordered" to attack us, or just someone killing off sat accounts on us, we had to struggle for most of the way, but still, troops managed to overcome any obstacles.

Then, the terrible Nurgle started to show interest. Some of his minions were already all over us, probing, scouting. The shadow grew in our Northwest. We were afraid...

Well, not really afraid, more like slightly amused at the amount of his own tribe members and abandons he nobled, as well as how he managed to stay in top K tribes all the time, switching one for another, as he saw fit, or called it politics.

Finally, a day after the break, we noticed a train coming towards us. And we were SHOCKED!

...By the incredible coordination you may witness here:

Alright, we said, 17 villages or so, he's probably big enough to crush us with his four nukes. Let's just let him noble that and then renoble or something, there's a lot of ways to deal with this.

But no, my brave coplayer said. Let us stack!

What are you going to stack with, we can't stop four full nukes that he must have by now!

But you're forgetting. This guy has 17 villages. His nukes are thin, because the nobles had to be fed!

Hm, you may be onto something, my friend. Let's see what happens.

Wham!

Last Christmas you sent me a nuke.

[spoil]Attacker: TheNurgle
Village: House of Julii (644|524) K56

Quantity: 0 0 3150 0 1716 0 100 0 0 1
Losses: 0 0 3150 0 1716 0 100 0 0 1[/spoil]

The very next day I killed it away...

[spoil]Attacker: TheNurgle
Village: Halicarnassus (649|522) K56

Quantity: 0 0 3510 0 1883 0 0 94 0 1
Losses: 0 0 3510 0 1883 0 0 94 0 1

Damage by catapults: The Statue has been damaged and downgraded from level1 to level0

Notice the fantastic idea of catting the statue! That really killed our hopes of survival![/spoil]

Then another one, to save us from tears...

[spoil]Attacker: TheNurgle
Village: Knights Hospitaller - Antioch (640|530) K56

Quantity: 0 0 0 0 905 0 67 0 0 1
Losses: 0 0 0 0 905 0 67 0 0 1[/spoil]

And then, when we saw all those spears and swords a-coming, we decided to give it to someone special :(

[spoil]Attacker: TheNurgle
Village: House of Scipii (648|528) K56

Quantity: 2600 1903 0 0 0 1084 29 0 1 1
Losses: 1206 883 0 0 0 503 13 0 0 0[/spoil]

Sending defense? 17 villages? Are you kidding me?

The time has come for Mr. Nurgle to slowly die out. He's all D now, and many people might decide to take a bite. I predict the decline of TheNurgle, newly nicknamed TheTurgle, who now plunges down towards the shores of obscurity. Probably still talking about himself in the third person.

To conclude, I have to say I really hate when people manipulate smaller players on a large scale, by keeping whole tribes under their thumb, and keeping in a safe haven of a top K tribe, usually full of mass-recruited newbies, and then munching on them, or sending them to do your dirty work. I plain hate it.

Still, it's a legitimate way to play, and a little deception here and there is necessary if you plan to succeed. But when it joins with you being a poor player with a big ego as well, I find that just disgusting :(

I love the song lyrics :icon_razz:

Though, seding defence with the last noble is a legitimate tactic to prevent sniping. whether a 2k sp/2k sw would prevent it, I highly doubt. also, who in their right mind uses swords in new world where sp/HC build time is much more important???

Whatmore, leaving a gap between the nobles prevents you from killing your own nuke when the village gets prenobled. No matter what he intended though, the troopcount is pathetic.

Great job me says :icon_biggrin: Seems like he really wasn't that great of a player after all, but the defense he send was prob thinking you would try to recap :)

lol splush

but yeah thenurgle is more noobish than most people can think and those who have had the privileges of exchanging in game mails with him know that without a doubt

its easy to feed on inactive tribe mates by having their troops sent out by the sitters and then the great barbarians but being privileged with seeing a few of his incomings on people i can say he has yet to learn on how to noble and how to send properly

so goodluck for he's gonna need it more than anything else :)

Like I said:
Timing = good (though i am not sure if he knew about it). general escort ideas = good.
Troopcount = crap. Swords = totally noob. No clearing waves = bad.

He shouldn't send a defensive with a noble when he has 17 villages. He could've sent the def afterwards. Alot of players send def with their last nuke if they can't time support afterwards perfectly. Still, four nukes is better than three.

yap the timing is in purpose so i won't kill my own troops incase someone already lowered the loyalty . or he purposely lowered his loyalty.

hehe =) lost a lot of troops in the war with irelax (tnx for putting me in the top 1 oda). and having skirmish with eviction notice and technology.(thanks for putting me top 1 in OD)

TheNurgle, I would give you the credit for much of it if not the fact you have swords...

What gave you the idea to build those? :icon_rolleyes:

Firstly, spears and HC are already balanced, so no need to build swords.
Secondly, your research levels must be terrible.
Thirdly, swords build and travel slowly.
Last but not least, spears are actually more efficient to build overtime against nearly all nuke builds (but especially against LC heavy nukes).

So, having swords results in you having:

smaller, slower, less effcient, and under-teched defence. Great choice mate.

:swordsman:Wow, and I wondered where you got your name from. You really are a fool..of sacred proportions.

Swords have a lot of uses, below I will post some, for your nub brain to digest.:swordsman:

1) Building swords, has completionist value, I like my vills to have one of every type of unit :icon_confused:

2) Timing! sending an entire army, and containing a sword for its slower time, can help give more options with timing.

3) Wasting early game Iron! Too much iron? train swords. They can also serve as a early game defense.. or you could just buy a market to store excess iron. But that is for pointwhores. :)

4) Noob feigning! sending a group of swords at an enemy will automatically make him rule you out as any sort of threat...then kick him in the nuts with your real army!

5) A forum topic! Swords make good forum topics.

6) Ascii- Swords are also the de-facto rulers of the ascii world.

7) Defense, probably their most useless role. But a role nontheless.

8) Hilt bashing SF.

At 17 villages the player has outgrown many in the area if he also has the fear factor with no players wanting to attack he can afford the slower recruit time that swords take.

In the long run if unchecked the growth will be even greater due to now having far stronger D than players around then being able to have an even higher number of nukes than must.

I also think as mentioned having that many villages will put a strain on nuke recruit but again with 2 days off soon can soon build them up.

Everyone playing a different style is what makes it fun.
