Divide and Conquer
Divide and rule (or divide and conquer, from Latin dīvide et īmpera) in politics and sociology is gaining and maintaining power by breaking up larger concentrations of power into pieces that individually have less power than the one implementing the strategy. The concept refers to a strategy that breaks up existing power structures, and especially prevents smaller power groups from linking up, causing rivalries and fomenting discord among the people.[1]
The strategy has been used in war and politics since the ancient times. Used by Romans to conquer Gaul or Macedonia, used by Mongols in conquering central Asia, Used by Bolsheviks and Joseph Stalin in 1920’s or by Nazis for seizure and consolidation of total power by the National Socialist German Workers Party. The basic principle of the strategy in War-Politics when facing a united opponent is to divide the enemy, and then attack the weakest part and then use the propaganda and intimidation to divide further the remaining parties. The strategy is highly successful as long as there is a little crack on the opponent so a wedge can be used starting the division.
Divide and Conquer in TW
Some of you might be already guessing where I am going with this. Tribal Wars is no different to the real world and divide and conquer has been used since the beginnings of time.
In recent history we had a great example of how effective the strategy was and how swiftly a tribe can conquer and dominate the world without having to fight much.
For those of you who didn’t play W80 Gents was the tribe that got people talking for months. They were well organised under the command of Brad (thin Blue Line) and very quickly they grow from a small size outer core tribe to a monster devouring everyone on its path.
The world’s settings of 80 member limit were the perfect conditions for Gents to use Divide and Conquer. They would intimidate tribes offering merges and recruitment for several best accounts while eating all the rest. They would grow fast interning a lot of inactive accounts moving from tribe to tribe and no one could stop them. But with all their glory Gents created unbelievable amount on hate. Externals were fuming; people and tribes soon united in a front and Gents break down under heavy pressure and internal issues.
Divide and Conquer on W90
TEAObey has started a little bit differently to Gents with so much stronger roster, solid leadership and more rim-like starting location.struck-throughObey has adopted the same Divide and Conquer strategy and they have mastered it to perfection now to the point whereAl murphNest could write a guide based solely on his tribe’s doings.
In summary
As you can seeTEAObey is always in search for weak and disloyal members willing to sell their tribe and being recruited byNest. He has tried it with members ofInfamyEscape as he knows well that is the only way he can gain advantage. I am sure he is trying to have spies inBiPWET and he has them in2HARDDEFY.AlNest will scheme, divide, recruit, internal and repeat until he gets his win.
I have to say the strategy is very effective, but if you recruit people who are willing to betray their tribe are you not worried they will one day abandon you? You recruited some spies, liars, turn cloaks and cowards adding them to a group of great players you had from the start. Half of your team if not more is made out of good, respectable, decent players. Don’t you think they would one day wake up and say, wait a minute; it is not the premade tribe we signed up for? To win for all cost is actually making me feel uneasy.
I just hope I opened your ayes to whatTEAOBEY really is:
I couldn't have put it better myself.
