Is there a set time limit for how long an 'infraction point' lasts? Or are they manually removed by a mod?

They are set times, although they aren't all the same. The set time depends on the type of infraction, and it is increased if you are infracted for something that you already have an (active) infraction for.

They are removed automatically.

Depends on which rule you broke, if you've recieved one you can go to your profile and see when it expires
